: A Tribute To My 1991 Phazer Ii Le
akrievins 01-12-2007, 05:40 PM I hate to see this sled go, but today I sold my Phazer. I bought it over two years ago for $1650 and have just sold it for the exact same price. I doubled the mileage while owning it, and it now has just over 4500kms.
I took some pictures of it today. As most you you know, I now have a 2003 Yamaha Viper. I really feel bad for selling this sled as it never caused me a problem. Not many people can say that about a sled this age.
So, did I get a good deal? I know some people have said I should have kept it as a back up, but two sleds, two permits, and the insurance isn't practical for me.
Well, here are the pics.

IceFisherman 01-12-2007, 06:16 PM You're gonna regret selling that sled man. If it were me, I'd have greased her up real good, and put it away in the back corner of the garage.
Dave600 01-12-2007, 07:09 PM Don't worry, once you get on that viper, and we get some decent snow, you won't even remember you had a Phazer.
CORY9 01-12-2007, 08:35 PM Oh, you'll never forget that Phazer!!! Sold ours several years ago, loved it as you did yours but there's a time and place for all sleds and you're moving on up
ZIPPARS02mxz800sp 01-15-2007, 10:58 AM dont worry once you get out for a ride on your new sled. You will not miss the old girl.
Eric1158 01-17-2007, 02:19 AM That's a beauty! You'll never forget it.
Enjoy the Viper!
IceFisherman 01-17-2007, 08:52 AM Actually, I would have played with the Phazer a bit.....Put a V-Max hood on it.....Some custom paint......tunnel extention and 136", play with the gearing and clutching a bit. And mad a nice powder sled/ditch banger.
akrievins 01-17-2007, 11:00 PM My buyer called back saying that all insurance companies want the sled to be appraised before they insure it for fire/theft. The guy told me if the sled is 15 years old or more, it's considered vintage, or something along those lines. Does this sound right? He said he called quite a few companies and was told the same thing. His area has had things stolen from it, so he wants theft on the machine and isn't sure about going through with the purchase anymore.
So, my sled will be on Autotrader Thursday.

yeah right....that brilliant lets put 2000 dollars into an old sled yup real smart...lol...i think he wont miss it at all..the new technology is so much better than it was back then...the suspension will be 100times better and the power will be incredible compared to the old one...i think you made a good move...atleast you stuck with the yammi alot of people switch brands which is kinda silly..stick with what you know..

Sometimes passion gets in the way of dollars and cents. Dare to be different as they say. Modifications are also a heck of a way to learn the inner workings of a sled, usually end up banging your head till you get it right. Yes the new technology is better but the same could be said for muscle cars and look at the money people spend there!

i get what your saying but i wouldnt put it into a sled like that...i would get a strong 700-800 tripple for a platform not a 91...maybe a 99-2003...then put all the goodies on it...you could do all the modifications you wanted to an old sled where as a 99 tripple would be 10 times better (stock) than the 91 modded...plus the 91 is probably hard to find parts for where as pipes and suspension upgraded are bountiful for the newer sleds...
Do you still have the Phazer or did it sell? I'm think about a second sled for my wife and this may fit the bill.
I'm still new to sledding so I have a couple questions.
- how big is the Phazer (cc's)
- 2cyl (air coooled or liquid)
My sister actually has a 340 Ovation (2500kms since new) but I can't get her to part with it.
