Sorry, don't know how to help with the problem as I'm new to the diesel world myself (bought my '02 PS back in May).
But, these guys will....

That's the same site I was going to suggest. One of the better that I found when I was shopping diesels.

new fuel filter yet? fuel to the pump(injection pump that is). not sure about your fuel, but we started the switch here and the new low sulfer is detergent enough that its cleaning the tanks at the station. time to carry a spare and the tools to change it. I do traveling anyhow.

yes i installed a new fuel filter last week. i,m checking the sites you guy,s mentioned and talked to few people and its sounds like the CAM SENSOR is on its way out. i guess there is a few sensors on these engines .dealer wants 300.00 for it. :lookaround:
this is the second diesel i have owned i also have a 92 F250 7.3 idi non turbo almost 500,000km and still going strong but the body is falling off.lol
AND WHAT DIFFERENCE IN POWER.
I HEARD THE 08 6.4 FORD DIESEL IS PUTTING OUT 345HP THOSE THINGS MUST FLY.

It could be a cam sencor or the glow plugs. The cam sencor is underneth the passenger side head take the bolt out and the sencor will come out. To check the glow plugs there is a plug on the back of the valve cover gasket, unplug and take a test light from the positive to the out side prongs, it lights up it ok, no light it is bad.
I've got a 97 stroke with 155000 mile

how about your injectors, are they clean. we had this happen to a 89 f450 7.3 flatbead. it sat for a long long time and the injectors clogged up. im sure this pickup has not sat to much but injectors do get clogged. Try putting in Lusan fuel injector cleaner, best stuff you will ever use. Also lusan heavy duty oil is the best thing you can ever use in a diesel. Add use 2 quarts or Lusan (one bottle) then the rest regular oil every oil change and it will plrolong the life of your engine and improve power.
