i just bought a 1984 polaris indy 400, and i was going through it making sure all levels are good (changed chain case oil, ran new fuel lines,ect...), and everything is working good on it, and i noticed that there is a rubber plug up tward where the exhaust pipes come out, it is right in between the 2 pipes.... any ideas? any type of oil to fill there?

Is the rubber plug on the recoil housing? By where the exhaust comes out, do you mean where the exhaust exits the chassis?

i mean where the two exhaust ports come out of the motor, they then go into one pipe, but the plug is right in between the two, a little below them. when i took it off, it looked like there was a round in there, kinda shiny with lines running along it, kinda like it spins... sorry new to sleds.

On my 85MX there is a plug up by the exhaust manifold/ports and it is the antifreeze drain plug. No idea if its the same but it might be.

I took some pics of it last night, thinking maybe a timing mark window or somthing?, but it it located just to the left of where the exhaust comes out.

yea, now that i looked at it it looks like it is on the back of the recoil housing.

Yea, now that i was looking at it, it does look like a timing window now, just makin sure before i get on out there....
