I am new to the board and was wondering if anyone from the Northeast part of New York or even VT, is a member? I would love to meet other members from this area. I have been riding for 25 years and am 31 years old. I have a great group of friends that I ride with. I live in Niskayuna, NY and also have a home on Lake George. I look forward to hearing from you all.

Shane :)

Hi Shane, I live now in Burlington, Vt., but grew up in Rutland, Vt. which is close to Lake George. I still vacation occasionally down that way. Sled mostly up in Northeastern VT, NH, and Maine. Only been riding for about 5 yrs, but love every minute of it. It compliments my other interest....motorcycles.

That's my home turf. I get onto the VAST trails in Readsboro from trails that go directly from my yard, provided the snow is deep enough. Readsboro is only a few miles from Woodford. Any time you guys are looking for somebody to ride with in that area, let me know. My friends and I usually go out on Sunday, so I'd love to find a saturday crew to ride with.

Hey There,

I believe we are gonna have lots of show this year, gotta find that snowblower.

Our Inn - Avalon is right in town (Island Pond) on VAST trails. We are a small Inn with four rooms, hot tub(indoor) etc... We have ample parking and you can leave your trailer if coming back next week.

I'm prepping the garage for sled riders with sled lift, air tools etc available to you to tinker with your sled(performance mods and then take her to the lake!) , I will also have some special tools (clutch, carb, etc..). Prices range from $60- $120 depending on the room, stay etc...

Oh yeah, the number to call 802-723-5470 for reservations. Directions etc... will be available on web site(coming up)

Hey DooinVT,

2 700 cc does qualify unless you ride a yamaha

DooinVT

doorider: I have NO yamaha...

I will be looking you up this winter as well! Sounds like a good setup youre gonna have there!

You know what would be cool..?.. If there was an annual "SnowmobileWorld" gathering ! What do you guys all think?? just an idea.....

Jim85IROC, tomw, jv vt,

Let's all share e-mails so we can ride this winter. I have a home on Lake George and if conditions are good we can all ride right from there some times as well. I live during the weeks in Niskayuna, NY, between Albany and Clifton Park and Woodford is about an hour away so it an easy ride for day shots. I too like to ride on Thursday and Saturday and Sunday. I ride blue but hold no prejudices. ;) It looks like we have a good group forming here. My information is as follows:

shaneskater24@aol.com
Niskayuna: 518-393-7187
Office:518-373-2633
Cell:518-281-7963
Lake:518-668-5389

Looking forward to hooking up soon. Oh yeah, I ride a 200 SXR700, pretty well dialed in too.

44xcr800,

Just saw your post. We are going to Maine this winter too. I was there a few years back. I go to Canada every year and would be happy to give you some do's and don'ts about where to go and what to do and what not to do. If you ever want to ride NY I know hte trails on Lake George, Speculator and Indian Lake/Old Forge like the back of my hand, so I would love to ride with you.

Great to see so many people hooking up here on SW. Oh, BTW, The XCR800 is one of my FAVORITE sleds!

shane, we normally ride on thursdays also. I don't ride weekend days as I am in my shop repairing sleds, usually quit noonish on sun. let me know when you come to Speculator. I've been riding skidoo till this year but I'm trying an RX1 this year.

Shane
10-23-2002, 08:38 PM
MXZ900,

I try and stay off the trails on weekend days unless we get out REALLY early and head back by noon. The RX-1 is awesome! I just jope it is not too heavy for the tight trails in Speculator. Be safe and enjoy it. I would love to ride with you. Let's keep in touch.

Shane

Hi Shane, Saw your post. I'll be up on Lake George this season if not trailering from there if the snow does not fall. Friend has a cabin one bay over from Sandy Point. His nieghbor owns a restaraunt/bar near by where the local clubs hold their meetings. Swap meets will eventually be held there as well. The main trail is groomed right to the back door for sledders to eat. I'll also be in Pittsburg, NH a lot for the deep stuff. Live in Boston. Send me a personal e-mail here or at home and we try to plan something for a meeting if you game. And no, we are not lake racers. but like to crank right along.

:withstupid: Do the Doo, now don't lie "not a lake racer" I bet my wife would disagree as you forced me to leave her in the dust crossing Moosehead last year. Oh did I forget to mention that she was petrified of the lake last year because everyone we spoke to said it was unsafe.
Don't you also have a friend with a place on Island Pond? We'll have to look up doorider. The in-laws got the place in Vt so its a definate I'll be registering NH & Vt.

Hey there,

It can get crowded here in Island Pons on weekends, but mostly around town since I’ve noticed a lot of people looping around , once you get further its fine. I personally like to see our sport grow the more of us out there - the longer we get to ride until greenies finally finish it off (they are working on it hard). Riding at night is awesome, on some trails you have to watch out for moose - despite the loud sleds they do not seem to hear it coming... We can also ride from IP to Rangeley Maine - awesome ride. Anyway hope to hear from you gyus when trails open. Feel free to call me at 802-723-5470, or email at superdba@hotmail.com, I prefer phone since I do not check personal email very often (sick of endless emails at work already).

MXZ900 If you every rode an srx700 I think it feel the same. Last year we were up Old Forge Ny at Big Moose Yamaha and they had an RX 1 there. I seat on it and it feel like my SRX. But that was sitting still but I think that the sled is cool looking. By the way what color is your RX 1 You could be a member of teamblue. :hallo1:

Hey Shane my email is Grnmtnzr6@aol.com. I'd give you my number but the g/f doesn't like me giving it outline :sarcasm: For the fellas that have ridden up in Canada what's the deal with the border? Also anybody know how close you can get to montreal on sled?

Shane
10-25-2002, 08:02 AM
GreenmtnZRT600,

I am on aol as well. You get pretty close to Montreal but no into the city. However, the riding is not as good between Plattsburgh and Montreal proper as that is not really in the snow belt and the fields get pretty wind whipped. What are you trying to accomplish in Canada? I will be able to point you in the right direction I am sure. I have been there many many times and know the area well.

Shane

MXZ900 Any one who own a Yamaha can be a member of TeamBlue. I live in Berkshire county in Mass. When we do get snow the riding is not bad the local snowmobile do there best to keep in good condition. Last year was the first time that I rode up Old Forge. When we went the trail were in great shape I can't wait this year. We are going to reg in Vt this year because the Vt border is only about 10 mile from where we start from. :hallo1:

10-25-2002, 08:40 PM
Shane, i was just wondering how close to St. Catherine street i can get :D I figured i couldn't make into the city. I've never driven up there in the winter so i didn't know how much snow is up that way. I can see your point about the fields getting wind whipped. But man they could be fun. Flats for miles... How many of you go boondocking or do you mainly just ride the trails?
