someone told me on snowmobiler tv today they said they were wanting to change the way the insurance works for sleds.

instead of going by your cc's of the engine they want to start by going by how many years experience you have, meaning being insured in your name. and how many people are in your family..

i didn't watch it myself so i don't know the details about it...but i was wondering if anyone had a better idea on what they want to do.

i think its a good idea.

not everyone with a big engine wants to race or go crazy, they could just be people that wanted a sled and didn't care about the cc's or just want that awesome launch power

The insurance company that supplies through the OFSC is the one that claims they rate sleds that way, based on driving record, age and who is in the house. Believer Plus is the company, endorsed by Don Cherry. Perhaps if anyone has ensured with them they can let us know if the savings are worth while.

I contacted Sledder's Choice (Believer Plus) regarding insuring my 2005 Vector. They wanted $440 for the year with collision. They based my rate on the basis that I've had no tickets, no accidents and licenced over 15 years. I currently pay $300 without collision through TD Insurance.

I opted not to go with Believer plus as they also require that you switch over your car insurance to them as well. I told them to take a hike.

If you want to get a quote, just fill out an online request through their website. They replied with my quote within a couple of days.

I don't like the idea of the OFSC promoting insurance companies

many sledders got screwed last time I believe Haoppy Harolds Mass insurance

Now lets say my wife just got her license

but does not sled, has not been on a sled since 97

Now I have to pay more becuase she live under my roof

Same goes for a 40-50yr old with a 16-19yr old living at home

Does he now have to pay more for sled insurance yet his kids do not touch his sled

This is just a case of an insurance company that stands to gain by aligning itself with the OFSC

BTW Don Cherry(Love the guy seriously) but he has never ridden a sled,he even said that on the show is promoting this????? HMMMM more $$$$$$
