what kind of modification you guys think i should get for a 1000&#36 can on a 617 just motor and clutch thaks for your help through out this project

Hi Eric, If I were you I would put the 617 up for sale, and find a 670 ,much better engine,and easy to do small mods with nice improvements.

im with squish band by a 670. there are alot of h.o.'s for sale out there and you would be way ahead in the long run. happy sleddin.

If you want to keep the 617, Crankshop pipes and clutching.

Hey Bud, don't listen to those 670 guys, my little mach1 617 eats them up.
Hurle your carbs out to 44mm put bbo and bb5 needle jets, set needles to 3 and 4, 501 rotary valve, drill the back upper part of the box 1 1/2 inchon each side. Jet up about 6 sizes to start.
So many things can be done to these mighty 617's. just to name a few.
