I don't know. However if you did you may need some serious adjustments as your computer is supposed to alter how much fuel is being delivered, and your pump needs to be able to communicate with that. Why would you want to replace it? Is an automotive fuel pump that much cheaper? Also, wouldn't it be larger, and thus take up more room?

Well the pump for my sled is 250.oo i can get a automotive pump for about 40.00 the problem is i dont know if the pump is the problem.my sled runs fine on initial startup after about a half an hour it acts like it looses fuel pressure and wont move(stays running)after that point with a little throttle feathering i can get it to move enough to get it home.pretty stumped any info would be great

Hello, got a 500 EFI that had problems, Does the pump sound funny, should be a faint humming sound. Undo the fuel inlet and let pump run should be a steady fuel flow, plug end with thumb, should build up pressure (approx 30 lbs ). As far as an electric auto fuel pump goes, it should work as there is only 1 plug for pump and that is the 12 volts to run pump. The computer turns pump voltage on and off then throttle body pressure is at approx 30 pounds. At the other end of the throttle body there is a pressure regulator valve, this dumps excess fuel back to the fuel tank, depending on engine vacuum.

I would suspect that the current draw on an automotive high pressure EFI pump would be a lot higher than for a smaller pump on a sled. Cars commonly run 40+ PSI EFI pressures and I'd imagine a snowmobile would use similar pressures, albeit at a lower fuel volume.

Hey people thanks for the info so far .To answer the previous question yes the pump sounds funny.when i first turn the key on it sounds fine then turns to more of a rattling.Itook the sled across the lake yesterday (so i can go fast) and on my way back across it started to bog again then stopped and ran fine think ice in the line maybe
