Guys,

Normally I can fix my old sleds, but this one's got me stumped. My secondary clutch, and my primary for that matter are getting hot, real hot. Now, I've got the belt that the book calls for on my sled, but I think it fits way too tight. The belt sits snug on the shaft of the primary clutch, so if i grab the belt and pull it, it tends to pull my primary clutch. Why would this belt be fitting so tight? Is it possible that the jack shaft and secondary could be off a different model sled?

It's a 1980 citation 4500, does the jack shaft from another model bolt up to this machine? I don't know what else to check, unless i just put a longer belt on?

i think on older skidoo's especially in that year, you can loosen up the chaincase and actually move it backward and forward so much to make the belt fit tighter. check your chaincase bolts, and loosen then and see if your chaincaase moves with a little bit of force. your clutch's are prolly really hot becasue your belt is too tight and there is too much drag. Try it, what you got to loose.
