Ok, engine runs great, but, I was out riding a trail tonight and I got to the end and the engine started revving high and the sled wouldn't move :cussing: . There is a brand new belt on it, the track is fine, it moves. I opened the hood and hit the throtle and the front clutch pinches the belt like it supposed to, and the belt goes into the back clutch, but the back clutch seems to not be working properly. It holds the belt, but seems to not want to pull it back tight so the clutch is in half - throttle position. Any ideas? Also, anyone know if there are any grease points on the track? I can't seem to find any.
Thanks,
Megan

So your saying the rear clutch is half way open(belt is down in about half way?).Sounds like a broken secondary spring..Yes there are quite a few grease points in the supsension..There is also a grease fitting for the front axle that is somewhat hidden by the secondary clutch.

Megan,
I have a clymer service manual with all the grease points for the front and rear suspension. I could scan and email them to you if you are interested. The grease zerc on the front shaft is down by the speedo cable. You will probably have to wipe the grease away to find it. It also specifies in the owners manual (fortunatly my sled came with one) that the jackshaft needs to be lubricated as well. I used a spray lithium grease around the bearings of the jackshaft to lubricate it. You may also want to check the gear lube in the chain case. The sled that i bought the guy didnt do any maintinance to it, and the chaincase was dry. I replaced what oil that was there with a synthetic gear lube that i bought at wal mart. Let me know about the the email and i can get that out for you.

Sorry to hear that. Was it repairable? If not should be lots of used ones around for that year sled.

Sorry Megan - thats too bad.
Since I just bought the same sled I am curious if you can help me with a question. As you know mine has a Polaris primary clutch, and I want to lower the engagement speed for reliability and easier riding for the kids.
Can you (or anyone else!) tell me what your stock engegement rpm is, and what RPM it holds while shifting?

z. It looks like the clutches kick in at 3500 rpm. It was 10 degrees out there when i did it so i did it real quick! I will look in that manual tomorrow to see if they say what the engagments on the cluthes are.
