: Any 1994 Formula Z Performance Parts Or Upgrades
Saleen01 01-27-2007, 08:51 PM I just wanna go faster, my engines only hitting about 145kph and its rated for about 165kph or 103mph. Give me anything! Or even better where would i go to get some parts for myself. I live in the kawarthas in Onatrio(just in case you dont know) so it kinda has to be close. But mind you my stock sled will get up to 140 in eight seconds so its not bad, i just want a little more off the line and about 20-30kph more in the long run. But anything will work!!
rotax800 01-28-2007, 10:01 AM How deep is the snow you are running in. If it is only a couple of inches I would check your clutches. they could be worn or dirty. Make sure they are clean & the arms are moving freely in the primary. Make sure your belt is not to thin & the belt height is adjusted properly in your secondary clutch. The cord should be just showing. Another thing to check is your RPM at wide open throttle. You should be around 8000RPMS. There is 6 settings, make sure they are all the same. Each # is 200 RPM, adjust them untill you get 8000 RPM at wide open throttle. :D You should get more top end on a lake then 145kph. I am getting around that on my 96 Formula 500 with no Rave. If you want to get to your top faster then put a clutch kit in it. In my opinion a clutch kit is the best performance thing to do to a sled. I use Cudneyracing & they are in Sprucedale Ontario. You can get his phone # on his web sit www.cudneyracing.com Talk to Bill Cudney, he is a great guy to talk to  Do you have any studs, you might not be hooking up to get to your top speed.
Hope this helps you out :D
Saleen01 01-28-2007, 01:09 PM For one thing i was on a paved road but it had enough snow on it, its less than 1/2km. That clutch sounds good but i only have about $1000 to spend. I have studs but its only a stinger strip. But at wide open throttle im running fine. I dont know if i have a problem, or if its just me wanting too much but i dont think so. Ill call monday and look at prices. Do you know how far away that is from the omemee(lindsay) area?
Saleen01 01-28-2007, 07:41 PM And just another thing, how long should it take to get up to my top speed :withstupid: , if yours will do 145kph on a lake. I was going on a road and it was short. I hit 145kph pushing 150kpm then i have to stop. I want to break 160kph. Is this reasonable??? I still want to get some parts but i would like my base speed to be around 160kph. Then i can build!! Also i dont know what you are talking about with the 6 settings, and set them all to 200RPM explain.
Thanks Dave

Have a look at your primary clutch & you will see 3 nuts & bolts. If you look at the clutch where the bolts are, you will see 6 numbers (1-6). There will be a small line in the top of the bolt & it will be pointing to a number. All three bolts should be pointing at the same number, the lower the number the lower your wide open throttle rpm is. (example) At wide open throttle your RPMs are at 7600 & All three bolts are at #3. Now set all 3 bolts on #4, Run at wide open throttle & your RPMs should be at 7800. Each # is 200RPMs.
Cudney Racing is about 2-3 hours from Lindsay, about 30mins from Huntsville. I don't think you will get much more then 160kph with out some motor mods that will cost more then $1000 but with a clutch kit you will get to your top speed faster for about $300-$400. If you like to ride hard in the trails then you will really like a clutch kit. Have a close look at Argento 102 pitchure of the Mach 1 & you will see a Cudneyracing sticker :D
If you get a kit & you need some help PM me & I will see what I can do. I don't live far from Lindsay.
Hope this helps you out.
You should head down to Port Perry on Lake Scugog, there always people racing & alot of the times somebody has a radar gun. Looks like I will be there around noon tomorrow. If you head down there I ride a yellow & black Rev MXZ Renegade X 800H.O. & my name is Mike. I will have my radar gun with me :D
Saleen01 02-05-2007, 07:55 PM thanks for the help mike. Sorry i couldn't make it to the lake i had a basketball tournament in Orillia, and i wasn't back until late saturday. I want to make it out onto the lake behind my house and see if i can get any faster. I took a look at those clutch bolts. And its a good thing cause the nut was gone and the bolt was half out! I was wondering how to get it back in until my dad shoved a screwdriver in there and moved something out of the way. I hope the clutch is self adjusting. I also could hear something moving around when i turned the clutch over by hand, i thought that it was the nut but i see what it is and i still have no clue what it is. So now I think im back to where I started and i have all the bolts set to four(where they were). Tell me i didn't #### anything up. :cussing: The nut shouldn't matter, should it??
I need more help
Dave
rotax800 02-05-2007, 11:11 PM The noise you are hearing when you turn your clutch is the arms moving, that is normal. take your sled down the lake wide open throttle. look at your tach, if it is at 7800 & you want 8000 then turn the bolt to # 5. Then go wide open again. You should be 8000
dpaige 02-06-2007, 03:12 AM I don't think you're going to see 103mph out of that sled unless you drop it from orbit.
with a sled that old, you're going to start breaking parts on a regular basis if you stress them.
Adding power adds stress.
You're talking about wanting to add 10+ mph to the top speed of the sled.
To do this you're going to have to increase the power of the motor by about 30hp.
Adding 30hp to a 10+ year old motor is going to turn it into a grenade, especially with a $1000 budget.
no matter how much power the sled has, its tough to go faster if its broken.
Saleen01 02-06-2007, 09:32 PM thanks for the help mike. And for you Mr. moderator thats harsh. Its a pretty good sled for they year and i just hit 5400km on it so not bad cause i only paid $1065 for it. Not only that it alomost does what I want it to do. But you are right
rotax800 02-06-2007, 10:58 PM I hope I helped you out. The clutches are easy to work on & set up once you get them figured out. Let me know if you need any more info :D
