working on gf's dads 2001 summit xtreme secondary, this sled was sunk in a pond last winter, the only thing that wasnt taken apart and cleaned afterward was the secondary clutch. now the bushing that the helix rides on is corroded and needs replaced, i have the new one. my ? is how do i get the old bushing out as the sheeve has tabs cast into it that hold it in and also how do i get the new one in? have thought about grinding the little tabs off but am fairly sure that they need to be there to ensure that the bushing doesnt come out of the race. any help would appreciated. thanks

I have found the best way to remove the large secondary bushing is to either cut a slot using a hacksaw blade (on a handle) or use a Dremel cut off disk. The three tabs (stacking) hold the factory bushing in and are sacrificial. The replacement should come with 3 screws and washers that self tap into the 3 holes casted into the hub. These screws plus an application of Loctite #609 sleeve retaining compound should do the trick. You can fabricate an installer using either a long bolt and aluminum plate or a long threaded bolt and slowly, squarely pull the new bushing in place.
