can any Formula 500 pro's help me out PLEASE

I need to change my jackshaft bearing in the chain case... can I get that bearing out from inside the case? or do I have to pull the jackshaft etc etc.??

THANKS SO MUCH

I know on the older model ski doos the bearing is pressed in the case. With this in mind, you may want to pull the case and leave the jackshaft in the sled, this way you have the case out on the bench to work on it, rather in the snowmobile.

Pull the cover and top gear, there's a cer clip that holds the bearing in the case. same for the bottom one too , not sure which one your after(some call both of them jackshafts). You'll have to get in behind the bearing to slip it out of the case, might have to pull the chaincase off (3 bolts). On that side there's no need to pull the shafts.

OK When you say "get in behind the bearing to slip it out of the case" do you mean it will only come out of the back of the case or do you mean I might have to come in from the back to push it through to the inside of the case? sorry kinda dumb today I guess
well... actually dumb everyday just dumber today

It probably makes sence to do them both seeings its apart huh?
what the problem is...the sled has a weering noise after it gets good and warm, and we have changed all the drive shaft / jackshaft bearing from the other side and every other one in and around the sled except the 2 in the chaincase.

It doesnt have any drag or anything when the shafts were spun without the pullys etc. on them,
but the brake system was screwed at one time and had heated the jackshaft pretty good and I believe it must have screwed the bearing... I told the guy when the other brake system and jackshaft went it to change the chain case bearings too but he said "it turns fine without any drag" but I told him it could still be screwed. the noise is still there! So I guess if you want something done do it yourself....with the help of fellow SnowmobileWorld buddys

with the upper gear off and snapring removed the bearing will come out. if its hard remove the case its easier. however I might be inclined to remove the shaft and replace both bearings on it.

The bearing sits inside a hub in the chaincase(only comes out from the inside). Somtimes they get stuck in there , thats why I said you might have to pull the case off .

You said HEAT and brake :dazed: , you might have warped the rotor or your caliper is sticking. When things heat up they expand. I would look at the caliper area and rotor for your noise problem.

yeah I hear ya,thats what I did,I replaced the complete jackshaft with a new bearing on the pully side and put another rotor that wasnt warped and just now replaced the caliper, the other caliper was also leaking on the warped rotor. So the only thing left is the chaincase side bearings.
THANKS guys!
