: Sweet New Sled Design
Gusto 01-31-2007, 09:21 AM Here is a sled image I received via e-mail. I was told this is a leaked concept from a major manufacturer that is very close to production. While that is always questionable until a product is released, you can tell it's more than just a styling sketch because of the detail in the suspension, etc. When I look closely, it appears to not be as rider-forward as a lot of the other sled designs are today. Maybe someone is coming out with something for people who want to ride sitting down not just standing up/leaning forward? Also--look at the antenna. What could that be? More 2-way radio like Arctic Cat? Satellite radio? Anyhow, I like many of the styling cues and I can't wait to find out if someone is making it. What do you guys think?

It looks like Yamaha Bogie wheels
slednek 01-31-2007, 09:33 AM looks like a new version of the blade snowmobile

:withstupid:
A blade with C&A Pro skis.
mccracken 01-31-2007, 09:45 AM Maybe its a honda?
flyin-lowe 01-31-2007, 09:50 AM The bogies and the look of the front suspension looked like a Yamaha to me. Plus the bike in the background might limit the number of possibilities. Its probably just some spammer wanting to see how many rumors can get generated by sending out 1 email.

It can't be a Yammy.
The wheels aren't warped or peeling apart. :lmao:

Gusto 01-31-2007, 10:53 AM What is up with the antenna then?
ESKIMORACER 01-31-2007, 11:34 AM The suspension is made by Fast Enterprises. The makers of the Blade. Polaris also has rights to that suspension design in exchange for the engine.
The front suspension is definately Blade.
Gusto 01-31-2007, 12:41 PM I would not rule out Honda yet--the reason being they have been putting GPS on a lot of their vehicles so they are very "techy" and the antenna indicates something like that.
As far as rear and front suspension, whose to say that 1. The patents haven't run out or 2. Honda is paying a royalty and they are taking advantage of existing technology to get into sleds in a low-cost way? They didn't exacltly re-invent the personal watercraft when they got into that.
I wish I could tell if it was 4-stroke or 2-stroke because a 2-stroke would put an end to Honda speculation.
timespentsearching 01-31-2007, 12:48 PM im sure its a blade. front and rear suspension are both blade suspensions. i heard they were coming out with something new too. i bet it will be rider forward when its down. if anyone knows blade was the first to use rider forward in the delta blade sleds. i bet this thing is going to be spendy
makwa 01-31-2007, 06:36 PM there are knobs on the side also.

erack@sbcglobal.net 01-31-2007, 10:27 PM kawasaki getting back in the game? the motorcycle in the background is kawi green
PowderBoy 02-01-2007, 02:47 AM The bike looks yammy to me... or maybe kawi... we should be focusing on the bike and that will tell us
permafrost 02-01-2007, 08:07 AM Whatever it is, this is NOT the year to release a new snow rocket. The big three can't even sell what they have built,(worst sales numbers in years), Rumors of Polaris getting out of Snowmobile manufacturing. It is the first day of February and they just started full on Grooming in Cochrane......Houston..We have a problem!
Whoever created that drawing left their Sig by the windshield.

pazzo 02-01-2007, 09:21 AM it might be kawasaki

One advantage to someone new getting in the game is then they could "own the dealership". This is what most major OEMs want to do--get their dealers to be single line. So, even if they barely manage to break even on snowmobiles they can push other brands out of the dealership and make more money on their ATVs, motorcycles, etc. Just a thought.
pazzo 02-01-2007, 09:56 AM after looking closer at pic is that a V on front of hood ?............
Gusto 02-02-2007, 08:21 AM What about AD Boivin? Wouldn't be much of a leap for them to get into standard snowmobiles.
Pepsi_fuzz 02-02-2007, 08:57 PM I was wondering about that V on the hood, usually that's where the emblem for Polaris goes, and they make Victory engines, however they don't make bikes like that... however the picture to me seems like half the sled is missing anyway. If it's a design concept, it's too rough and is more than one design. The numbers printed on the front half of the machine don't match the back half, so perhaps it's two designs mixed into one. I think someone just had fun with their computer on this one.
I don't know why people think Polaris is getting out of snowmobiles? They made 1.9 Billion Dollars last year, and so far this year our winter is twice that of last year. Why would they back out when the magazines all agree that the new IQ chassis is now better than the REV chassis?
puree 02-02-2007, 11:00 PM I would say its a nice picture that someone drew up on the computer and isnt a sled that we will ever see,,,, Just my 2 cents

I heard Honda is finally making the move....Hmmmmm.....
FreezerBurnt 02-03-2007, 11:09 AM That is a Fast(Blade) concept drawing
the rear suspension is their new Air Ride
jayyyyy75 02-03-2007, 03:39 PM Is it just me or does the bike in the picture look a lot like this one? hyosung (http://www.dallangelo-motos.ch/Hyosung_1.jpg) They are currently selling bikes in the US at very cheap prices. Perhaps they are exploring the idea of getting into the snowmobile market as well. Hyundais were crap cars when they first started out but look at them now. Probably a long shot but you never know.

Hyundais were crap cars, and I haven't heard any different since their invention, lol. They still are. The bike does make a very good resemblance, though.
FreezerBurnt 02-03-2007, 06:10 PM The Hyosung bike is a carbon copy of Suzuki
Dealer up here sells them
They told me they were part of Suzuki at one point and have since desided to go their own way

That's kinda cool. I didn't know that. I did know that Chev bought the Suzuki engine, so for all you Arctic Cat fans running Suzuki engines, technically you own a Chev (we raz dad about that, he loves Suzuki, but hates Chev, lol.) I did read in a magazine that Honda was going to start building snowmobiles, and introduce the 4 stroke engine to snowmobiles. But in that same year, Yamaha announced they were going to start building 4 stroke engines, so Honda backed out. Who knows when they'll change their mind. I'd say 10 years from now those 4 strokes will be some sweet ride, and hopefully they'll get double the mileage they are now (C'mon, how come they have half the horsepower and the same mileage as 2 strokes? They should have shown some sort of improvement over the last 2 years...)
Update... not necessarily "bought" but partered with. For example, Ford is teamed up with Mazda, hence the Ford Ranger and the Mazda pickup trucks are carbon copies of one another. Much like the Plymouth Acclaim and the Dodge Spirit where one alike.

GM over the last 18 years was increasing it's share of Suzuki and until last year owned 30% of the Suzuki shares.
However, as part of it's corporate restructuring, they sold off a huge chunk of that.
I can't remember what percentage they own now, but I think it's around 10% at the very most.
If I remember, I'll do some checking at work on Monday.
Perm, funny you mention the Polaris getting out of sledding rumour.
That's one that I suspected based on what I had been reading lately.
However, I just heard last Wednesday from a reliable source to Polaris Corporate, they are actually looking at getting out of the ATV business. That one surprises me big time but as I said, this person has a brother working inside at the top. Hmmmmm?
