So today I decided to take Chicky to work cause its supposed to get pretty bad out and some significant snow accumulation. Everything was fine until I got home. I came in the door and went right back out to work on my car. Didnt really notice anything out of place. Then I come back in cause Im freezing and notice my Xbox is gone. So I start looking around and realize all of my sled DVD's(about 20 to 25) are gone, Chicky's laptop, my sony mini DV camcorder and 2 car amplifiers. So I go back to the bed room and stuff is just everywhere. They went through all of our dresser drawers but didnt take anything. Im kind of confused. My ski doo leather coat was next to the door hanging and my helmet was on the dining room table. They actually took the time to unhook the base of the camcorder from my pc and unplug it from the wall. Then it gets worse......They took a set of keys to Chicky's GTO. Another confusing thing. The keys were hanging by the door too along with the extra keys to the Dodge. Those are still there. The cops came and took lots of pictures and tried to get finger prints and got nothing.

One of our neighbors actually got a description of someone coming out of our building and going to his trunk. I hope they catch this S.O.B. and hang him from the highest tree they can find.

Fred, Cathy

That really is a bummer. I feel for your guys and I know the feeling. Altough Rick and I did not get that much stuff taken, our car did get broke into not long ago, and a stereo taken from it. It's a feeling like no other when someone does this to you.

I know you two live in an apartment which leads me to the Renters Insurance thing, Did you have that?

it's happened a few times at my house, don't let it get to you. sounds like they took the norm that drug users do. as for the keys they wanted to see if there was something in the car to steal or once the snow clears you'll find them they just tossed them. auto theft is an economy in itself.

Fred,

Just a thought, but on your laptop they took.. Did it have personal info in it like passwords to accounts, banks ect?? You may want to think about the hackers out there, of course if these punks steal as they do, I doubt they are smart enough to do that, but ya never know.. Watch your local pawn shops too.. You just may see some of your stuff unloaded at them. Again, Sorry all this stuff happend to you two.

It's an awful feeling, has happened to alot of us. Really understand the violated statement, exactly how we felt. Hopefully they'll catch these punks.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your things. I feel this is only going to get worse because of the economy.
All I can say is lock and load and shoot to kill or they will just do it again.

Sorry to hear that, same thing happened to us 2 years ago and the b*stards stole the kids laptop and some creep was posting the computer's contents for 2 years after. That was more violating than the original theft. Hope the police catch them and you get your stuff back. Keep after the cops so you don't get lost in the system. Its too easy to get the "call your insurance" line from the authorities.

Sincerely,

Simon

Here is the bottom line...We dont have insurance. Since I got paralyzed in 91 AAA has been paying my rent. Last January they stopped. So I had to start paying it myself. I only get 732 a month from SS. The only reason Im able to have a sled and the nice things that we do have is because of Chicky. She takes very good care of us both. I canceled my renters insurance trying to save a few buck since I had never used it. My building has only 1 way in and there are 7 other units in this hallway. You would think that someone would have seen something. Well, it turns out that someone did see something. There was 2 girls going door to door knocking and if you answered they would just say "oh sorry, wrong apartment" and walk away. Then there is a black guy. He was seen standing at the back of his car with the trunk open. So, my best guess is this. The girls knock, if there is no answer the black guy goes in and tries to get in while the girls stay outside in the car as watch outs.

Yesterday I had this confirmed. I was talking to the guys that do our snow removal. And one of them tell me that this has been happening for a while now in the Mattawan area. So I call the police and ask them and he also said that this was true. So now I have no worries that it was anyone that I know or one of my so called friends. Or even one of our neighbors. Makes me feel a little bit better.

The girls are between 18 and 21 and kinda look mexican. The guy is tall, black and medium skinned. Not really dark but not light either.

I will keep you guys posted. Also if any of you that are close to me have sleddin videos and wouldnt mind letting me borrow them for a day so I can copy them that would be awsome. Just shoot me a pm and I will get in touch.

The cops have been very understanding and are really trying to help. I was very surprised at how much time they spent here and how thorough they were in the investigation here. I hope that these good guys actually get the bad guys for once.

Thats a real bummer Fred. Sorry to hear that. Hanging is to good for them. I think the law should bring back STONING. Theives will probably think twice after being hit a few hundred times by rocks thrown at them from the town folks. I hope you get all of your stuff back.

Fred and Cathy, we are most sorry to hear of your misfortune. It truly sucks, we can relate as it happened to us when back in Toronto. I know it is too late now, but there is software/hardware that can be installed on your laptop to trace its location. there are many variations out there. good luck on possible recovery and closure on this. :)

Too funny. I'm amazed that no matter how often theories like this are proven wrong people still believe it. Man am I ever glad I live in Canada.
And by the way, the economy is doing pretty good, and crime rates are down. No need to start killing people just yet.

Sorry again Fred. Like I said on the phone. If there is anything we can do let me know.
BTW, I also have a CCW, so if I see any people like you described, I'm on it!!

Well, if you want to come camp out in my spare bedroom we always got room. I really wish I hadn't sold my 12 gauge. But then again since I wasn't home they probably would have taken that too.

Took the keys to the GTO??? OMFG Atleast they have taste LOL. I'm a Pontiac Nut :D Totally sux though it really does. I've been robbed before too. Working graveyards, wife was home, sleeping, they took my DVD player, all the DVD's approx 100, and ALL the remotes in the house. BUt, they acctually left the DVD remote on top of the stereo. Like WTF????

Not sure if your thinking its an old GTO, but this is it. I should be able to drop it off at the dealer tomorrow to get it re keyed. I can just imagine how much thats gonna cost since the car came from Australia and the keys are laser cut and the keyless is built into the key.

Ouach!! THat is going to hurt. I know that just to replace the key for my Dodge with the built in keyless entry is $200....for a fricken key!
That really bites.
