Well... It is no secret that we are getting hammered by snow. For the last two days it has been white out conditions. On the back roads it is garbage with HUGE drifts. I was in my excursion today going out to my grandmas house to clean the drive off. I was going down a back road that has large fields on each side. I knew I was going down the road however no one lives out there and there were NO tracks at all. Did I mention white-out? So I am driving along in 4wd and only going about 25-30mph when it happened......

BOOOMMMMM!!!!!

I hit a snowbank that was taller than the hood of my truck IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!!!!. I tried to back up but I guess so much snow got under the truck plus the ice on the road = I wasn't moving....!

I dug for 30 minutes but the -20F made it really hard to stay out there. I finally got in and locked it into 4wd LOW. I decided that I was going to see if I could break that expensive ### transmission I put in there last year. I went from forward to reverse rocking it to give me some wiggle room. Finally I got enough room to THINK I could get it out...well...I was kinda right!

When I locked it in I decided to get as much fuel to the wheels as possible so I turned up the juice and let it rip... There was enough black smoke coming out to look like a train!

The problem is that while "wiggling" it loose the truck turned sideways. So now I am pointing INTO the big huge damn wall of hurricane snow drift crap! I decided that if I was going to get stuck again I was at least going to get close enough to THAT tree to winch out. Well I didn't get stuck but I couldn't turn. I did get to a high point and get it into 4wd high. I got back on the fuel and held it down. I was pretty impressed. I had to take a mental picture and just guesstimate where I was going across that field as I couldn't see anything. I knew that the road crossed in front of the direction I was heading but like I said...no one had been down there so it all looked the same. About the time I thought to remember there was a ditch on both sides of that road it was to late... FOUND THE ROAD! I thought I was going to loose a few teeth in that deal and hopefully the swelling goes down in a few days. I didn't stop on the fuel though! I made the turn ok and hammered down the road. I really really really wish I had pictures or video of that. It would have been pretty funny to see. Hell I wish I would have had someone with me. 1. to witness and 2 to HELP DIG!

Isn't it funny how we come closer to God when freaking out like that? I used about 10 gallons of fuel in that half mile but it was worth it I guess.

here is the closest illustration I could find:

Wow ! Glad you finally got out ok because with temps like they are, it would not have been fun to spend anytime out there.

I was was out riding in those white out conditions over the weekend, and I'll tell you what, If I would have seen a big ol Excursion blasting across one of those fields I was ridin in, well it may have been too much for my pants to handle!
