We have had our 1999 vmax 600 triple for 1 year now..

It was used when we got it with only 2100 klm on it

now has 2758

it's always seemed to have a knocking noise at around 4500-5000 rpm

traveling at about 20 km/h

from time to time running slow it seems to backfire on one cylinder also




idling it sounds fine and faster than 20 it seems fine too

makes great power and speed

starts great

plugs look great

I run normal 87 octane pump gas in it

is this noise normal or is this a bad thing?

You need to be running 88 octane MIN. Premium would be better 92 octane or higher!
