Good News.
I rode the MXZ 800 over 2000 miles last year. A dog at top end to say the least. I had the recall for the pistons completed prior to this season''s riding. With the following changes, I hit 110 miles per hour and the sled was still pulling before I shut down. If your having troubles, try the following:

* Set the T.R.A. at the number 4 click
* Set your secondary with White spring at A-3
* Set the drive belt to ride on the secondary at 1/8 inch above the clutch
* Set your R.A.V.E at one complete turn out
* Jet your Mains at 480 (500 is stock)
* Take out the foam in the hood that sits over the airbox, also the small one on the airbox. You still have 2 foam pieces protecting your carbs, the two in your hood and the one in the airbox.
* Amsoil
* 87 Octane

I hit 110 and still pulling at Tug Hill, temp was about 30 degrees. I weight 220 and have 192 studs in the track. This sled is running OUTSTANDING!

Good Luck

Well cork, this is certainly good news. I have a couple of questions. Is the 110 MPH on your speedometer or radar/GPS? My '01 ran 109.4 (radar) last year at sea level, 25 deg.F, hardpack and ice on a pond, 192 studs, bone stock with about 200 miles on it before the timing advanced. I weigh 200. What was yours doing for speed before these modifications? *How does it do in acceleration with that light a secondary?

Thanks and good luck,
Doug

Not on Radar, on a flat road covered with ice, the studs were grabbing hard, ( no spin) the sled was pulling extremely hard.

Last year, at best, maybe 98 miles per hour on a cold day.

Vast difference. *Last year the sled off the line would pull, but this year, I can pull the skis off the ground. *

Whatever they did during the recall made the sled run crisper. *Last year I fouled plug after plug, this year I have had absolutely "0" problems (200 miles) so far. It pulls harder off the start and has considerable more top end.

See initial posting. *Yesterday, ran the 2001 MXZ 800 hit 113 MPH 3 consecutive runs. *Ran against a 2001 ZR800 for confirmation.

I'll post again after I change to a 27 tooth gear installation. *Hoping for 2 MPH more at top end.
