After laying around the house all weekend trying to get rid of my first cold of the winter, I thought I was feeling better! Now after being at work for a few hours I'm thinking I should have stayed home today and kept my couch and TV occupied. This Bronchitis is kicking my -ss!!!!! I'm thinking I'm leaving early today!!!!

Hope everyone feel better soon

I hope you all feel better soon ! It really does stink to be sick !

I would like to know if any of you who got this bug recieved a flu shot this year??? I just want to log notes in my own head so I can determine if these flu shots really work. I did recieve a shot and so far I"m good. That does not mean I won't get sick, as Rick has it and I could be right behind him.. If you have recieved the shot but are still sick, please post it here. Thanks.

I do not like to be sick in the winter; so at the first signs of a sore throat, I take an antihistamine(NOVO-PHENIRAM). These tablets are available at the pharmacy here in Ontario but they're kept behind the counter and is quite reasonably priced. It takes away the post nasal drip and dries up any sinus congestion I have. I even pack it when we go on our overnight trips just in case. When I get a sore throat, it usually turns into strep throat - not fun. This remedy works for me.

Keep well. John.

Well.........Here I go.

This is the wierdest thing that has ever happend to me. Yesterday I was fine, I went to work feeling good, went out shopping for our digital camera and felt fine. We stopped at subway on the way home and we had that for dinner. No problems everything was good.

This a.m I woke up feeling weak, kind of dizzy, so I went back to lay down in bed. That's when the nausea hit and the next thing i knew I was over the toilet getting sick. Ok Ok Ok I thought, I feel better for that, and now I'm going to be fine right? I decided to get in the shower and maybe I would feel better, I got all dizzy in there and felt like my knee's were going to buckle so I hurried up rinsed my hair out just in time to open the glass door on our shower and I fell to the floor. broke a shelf on my way down, broke some glass that I landed on, and cut myself pretty good. Snowmutt came rushing in there because it probably sounded pretty bad. I don't think I ever actually passed out because I remember everything about it, but I have never been so dizzy in my whole life and I just couldn't believe what was happening to me so fast. Tonight I"m feeling better but I can't say I'm 100% yet. I'm kind of weak but I don't feel nauseas anymore.

I'm trying to figure out if the subway didn't agree with me or if I'm just sick with what everyone else is getting. Everyone seems to have different symptoms so I don't know.

Here's hoping everyone is feeling better.

That is the way I felt a few weeks back!! It lasted about 36 hours. Now I have a nasty chest cold that I cant seem to shake! Got to love this weather! 15 degrees one day and 46 the next( I work outside). Right now it is 34 and raining...YUK!

I hope you get to feeling better soon!!! You got a week up in the UP to ride!!!!!! I am going to try to get up to atleast Irons by the end of next week, weather permitting.

Thanks Brian, at least now I know that I'm not totally on my own with my symptoms. Rick never got the flu like symptoms, he just went straight into the cold and is still not over it. It's been a good week now although it has broke up and the pressure in his head is somewhat relieved. Lot's of sneezing.

I told her my cold I can live with, just let it drain into the beather mask and blow it out the vents  . Un like her ..she could get a clog with the objects that might come up :whistling: .

Sure we cant go to work , but we will find a way to ride

I hope all of you that are sick, get well soon. I haven't been sick { yet } and hopefully I won't. I did notice something. When I did smoke, I would always get sick in the winter. Cold , Flu, and even Bronchitis. But since I DO NOT SMOKE CIGARETTES any more. It seems that I don't get as sick, like when I did. I do feel that smoking does contribute to the cause of being sick. I haven't a real bad cold or the flue for the past 3 years. But I haven't smoked for 20 years. I know it takes time to clear out your lungs from smoking. But I think since I quit, I have gotten healthier, lung wise that is. But in regards I hope all that are sick, to get well soon. :) Snow Prowler

There is no doubt about it Butch, Smokers take much longer to get over a bronchial type sickness. When it comes to the flu, I don't know if smoking contributes to getting it anymore than the next person.
Also,I don't believe the big myth when it comes to getting sick, is the weather. Weather does not make you sick. a Germ makes you sick. I should have washed my hands more than I already did. :bash: Now weather can make your recovery time longer if your out in the cold and your body is trying to fight that as well as a bad cold/flu. But the old myth of " put your coat on you will catch a cold" is just not true. If you have a cold already, Put your coat on ! lol

Ok here we go. I owned 2 adult foster care homes (still have one). My residents (17 total at one time, down to 11) have gotten the flu shot for the last 7 years including myself and my employees. Since they have been getting them, I've notice that they are not as sick as before and also coming down with the flu is non-existant. At the most one might have a cough/cold for a couple of days and that is just about it. Now as to the bug that has been going around, nobody has yet gotten it. My wife seems to come down with sore thoats and has just came down with ths. She went to the Doc on Friday and has bronchitis. In all honesty, I'm beginning to wonder if the reason some people get colds, flu, sore thoat and other things is because they still have there tonsils. Back in the day it seems as if everyone (myself included) had there tonsils out, nowadays they won't do it. I haven't had a cold, flu, sore thoat or anything in so long I can't remember. Maybe I shouldn't of the last sentence.

EEK! I was bit HARD. I started to feel crappy Monday of last week. It got worse and then, suddenly on Friday morning I woke up and honestly felt great. Then proceeded to do THEE stupidest thing - Got all revved up and we went out for a night of drinking. Didn't get to bed until the wee hours of Saturday morning. Slept til noon, woke up feeling like I was DEAD, I was SO sick. Way worse. What a mistake! I am feeling quite a bit better now though, although this thing seriously sticks. No coughing anymore but still congested. And everyone I work with is CURSING me. I've successfully passed it around to EVERYONE. My husband is miserably sick, keeping me up all hours even though I CAN finally sleep again.

Word of advice? Take Tylenol Cold tablets, buy them in the daytime/nighttime packs. I swear, they REALLY help and are GOOD.

Feel better soon all!

It took me about 10 days to totally get rid of it....no flu shot for me. I don't think I've gotten one since I got out of the service 15 years ago. Bronchitis usually hits me hard once a year, but normally in early November. I always atributed that to a lack of sleep and being outside so much that time of year. I hunt non-stop in October and November, to bed late and up early with many, many hours out in the weather. Didn't have a cold last year at all....the bronchitis I had this year was the worst I've had in years!!!! Glad its over....knock on wood!!!!!

Ouch I caught it last week, thought it was over, felt icky friday, thought it couldbe the last ride of the season Saturday and it was, not 1/2 mile off the trailer my husband hit a cornice and broke his back, had to get an ambulance on the mountian and get him to the nearest Hospital 150 miles the wrong way form our home.. But I ran home got the kids and by the time I got to Sheridan he was being sent home, compressed his spine butt no spinal cord damage.. So I am sick as a dog but he is in a great deal of pain.. No more snowmobiling this year..
:(
But My hubby is alive and going to recover so I can be very grateful and look forward to nest season..

I'm just as guilty as the next person when it comes to taking health for granted. Only when I get real sick do I just think to myself......." I just want to feel better". I'm sure your husband is saying the same thing ski-doo girl. Take care of yourself too so you can help take care of him.
