I heard that a Polaris Semi was at a secret location last weekend with all the 08 models and there was nothing bigger than a 700  I don't know I was not there but it is what I read

I heard 600 in race chassis. I'm hoping for 800 in race chassis with out softening the shocks or chassis for consummers.

800 seems to be a sure bet ( I have heard evidence of new "800" head castings a couple of places now), but we will all know by March 12th or 13th.

Timespent tell your contacts at Polaris to build 6 and 700s that get more than 10 mpg and while they are at it, give them bigger gas tanks too...

Here here! I want a 150 mile range, and and least 300 miles range for the oil resevoir.

No it doesn't. If you've got more then 90 miles on a tank you're sucking fumes.

on the clean fire models they went from 10.8 to 11.7

Yes they did, but the gas milage SUCKS.

Hell, my '07 600 CFI is only getting 11-12 MPG.

And hopefully they wont F-up the oiling system like they did on the 600 CFI anymore.

On a better not Poo has by far the best chassis on the market. Plenty of people on revs and even one on the new cats has rode my sled and wished they wouldnt have spent the money on thier doos and cats.

I'm hoping for a 550 fan in the IQ. I'm thinking about an '07 600 HO IQ, but 40+ lbs lighter(Rev 550 fan) would be better on the woods trails I like. My dealer says that his rep has ridden the '08 sleds and it isn't coming. He does want to sell me an '07 really bad though!

10.8 to 11.7??? I'm assuming you're talking gallons, and US gallons at that? BFD, I ran out of gas today at 83.4 miles, and it took 43 liters to fill it up. However many gallons it might take, that's not near enough miles on a tank. If they're going to fix something, fix that.

As far as the chassis goes, I LOVE MY SLED!! I can't say it enough. It blows my mind what a nice sled this is.
Seeing as Ski-Doo has a 435lb Rev for next year though, Polaris is going to have to step up and get the weight down.

As for suggestions (though I'm sure it's a little late) give me a Dragon Switchback; Same suspension as my Dragon, but with the heat exchangers from the RMK. That's my dream sled. Well, add a tool kit, a gas can rack and a removable seat with storage.

I think a 550 fan in an IQ is a given.

When the new RevXP gets a 550F, it will weigh about 380 lbs.

if your only getting 83 miles on a tank of gas you wonder how they pass them in the emissions when you can get 130 miles on a stock carb 600???

I have a stock carb'd 600 HO and I can't get anything close to 100 miles a tank. Rode a power line in about a foot of new snow the other weekend and got 72 miles to a full (and i mean full to the top of the rim) tank of gas. Best I have gotten was a long cruise at about 50 mph and 6400 rpm and I got 94 miles on that tank. Oh and my mains are even jetted two sizes lean from stock...

IM NOT 100% ON THE HO MOTORS im RUNNING ONE BUT ITS MOD, BUT i know my old style 600 ves I could get 130 miles before worring where the gas station was.

The only way I could get 100 miles with my old style VES was in the back of the truck.

NewfieBullet, I'm with you on loving the Iq chassis. But I'm on a different page as far as the gas mileage. I get 13-14mpg hammering on the throttle and 15-16mpg taking it easy. Which is WAY better than my last sled. I used to be a ski-doo man but this sled by far is the best sled I have ridden ever. That list includes rides on Revs, Firecats, RX1, vectors, xc's, zx chassis, and new phazers. Yeah I will conceed that My wifes rev gets better gas mileage but no way would I trade my sled for any rev. Maybe the new rev that sits the rider back a little more than the current rev but for now I LOVE MY IQ 600CFI!!!!!!

i can honestly say that, I had 600 ves in gen 2 and my dad had one one the edge(before I bought it) and we rode miles and miles all over ontario and both sleds could get over 100 miles easy. we would ride with skidoos 600 and they were all around the same to fill 1 or 2 litres diffrence here and there. 130mls was the fear of running out but Igot it more than once and so did my dad. Some how the only way I could see your sled getting that pour of fuel mileage is you either got a lemon or you really screwd with the clutching and gearing!

NewfieBullet
03-04-2007, 08:18 PM
Nope, I've ridden with lots and lots of VES motors, and they were always pretty much the same. If anything my 800 seemed to be better then a lot of 6's. I've tried gearing up and down, played with the clutching and the jetting. Nothing made a difference.
Theoritically, in good going I could've probably did 100 miles, but I don't think I ever saw it. Playing off trail I would get panicky at 60, and I always carried a two gallon can with me.

this wil be an argument that we will fight till death lol.
the rail bed between Cochrane quebec is is aprox. 120 miles not km, miles! and i have done twice on both a gen2 and the edge 600 ves completly stock sleds the secondtime I did it we had a fresh snow fall and we broke trail the entire trip across. the first time was with our buddy with a yamaha xt 600 and it ran out of gas 20mls from town and we made it back down town cochrane. the second time was with edge 600(mine) edge 800 mxz 600 and formulaIII.
We all made it across no problem with the formula being the best on gas and the rest all near fumes but we made and thats a fact 120-130 miles case closed!!!!!!!!!!

Boys, as it says on the window sticker, your results may very. Heck I even got 11 mpg once on my Egde 6, smooth groomed trail, 25 degress F, no speeds over 70 mph, you know basically in "gape" mode. 11.8 US gallons times 11 mpg = 129.8 miles, so it is possible. Would I ever go more than 100 miles without stopping for gas, no, I don't like to walk. Can I run that same sled out of gas in less than 90 miles? You bet, as that is normal, at least for me.

Now back to the thread. Looks like the 800 is real, as new 150+ hp engine, but the rumor is only available in an RMK, now thats a bummer. IQ 700 maybe, and some kind of 600 in a "race style" chassis, whatever that is, probably a IQ Snowcross look alike. By the way , got to see the new Doo 800 XP over the weekend. Looks pretty cool, if you like the bizzaro/F117 look and I do ( U know, from the Superman comics). I lifted the front and back, and the SnoFast biceps could not detect the 40-50 lb. loss, maybe it's there, maybe not. It's going to be cold riding it, why do some of you guys like this, oh well I guess I'm getting too old. I must say the A arms looked pretty skinny, maybe made out of super strong unobtanium, if regular steel, they will be bending. Also, I guess the rider will get an extra inch or 2 in suspension travel ( maybe just rider travel) , as the floorboards are very minimal, as in more air than metal, and they doo flex a lot. I'm sure it will be fast.

I dont mean to fan the fire, but I just rode NW of Duluth this weekend and I went 72 miles on 8 gallons of gas . This was riding 95% fresh powder. I have a 2006 fusion 600HO carb. Also 2 main jets leaner. I have 1400 miles on it and have never gotten better than 10 mpg. Stock gears and clutching. The one difference is I have the M-10, so it is a 128"x1 1/4 track.

Pepsi_fuzz
03-05-2007, 06:27 PM
The 600 and the 600 HO will get different results. I've been told that the M-10 suspension is the biggest culprit in poor fuel economy. In fact, 10mpg is the norm and less is not considered uncommon. The size of the sled and length of the track is also a factor. The Dragon has a longer trank (doesn't it?) so it would be harder on gas then the pretty blue one picture above (pretty blue??? I'm a black fan myself)... anyway... that had nothing to do with this entire thread. Who started this mpg fiasco? If Polaris wants to win, build an engine that will never fail, byproducts that never fail, 150hp is more than enough for ANYONE to kill themselves (really, how fast do you want to go?) and get 50mpg thank-you.
