I want 800 R SDI

I Dont want sore thumb associated with a carbed engine.

I want the fuel milege of an SDI

I will not buy until I get what I WANT

How come you dont want to go w 1000 sdi weight, dependabillity? is the 800 ho a better engine in your opinion? you would get the hp., just curious. :huh:

The 1000 SDI will still be out for 2008, but in the same RT chassis and the same specs. It is not in the XP chassis. So it is really the same as a 2007 Mach Z.

I have friends with 800 Blizzards and also 500ss and all I hear when we stop is how much thier thumbs hurt and how long of a pull it is especially with small hands .........Will the 800 R be any different?

Hey Hey now.... My wife doesnt complain about her thumb... I guess I never noticed any huge differemce, But.. our longest ride this year was only 75 miles or so.

On Sat we just did a ride of 240 miles 380Kms in one day.The carbed engines have a throttle lever that is almost a inch longer and that puts it out from the handle bar about an 1/2 inch.There is a reason for this it is called leverage.The reason for leverage is a harder pull.

FB shame on you :p I get a sore thumb all the time..the problem is the throttle when not engaged is wider then my wee hand opens so to stop using the throttle i have to slide my hand down the handlebar as just letting go isnt wide enough to release the throttle...but it is easier to squeeze then the roundside carbs 1 million percent :)

It is ouite obvious that you have never driven a sled with true fuel injection.The spring (1 Spring)operates the return on both throttle bodies and it is ouite small.
Read next post about leverage.Also people with small hands have a longer reach on the carbed engine.....

LOL I am with FreezerBurnt on this one. If the throttle pull on the flatside is too much then maybe you should excercise your thumb. And yes i have tried both, efi and flatslide, and for the record I still ride a roundslide carbed machine. EFI is minimally easier, but a deal breaker on an 800 R motor?

If you really do have weak thumbs or really small hands you could always go for the twist throttle kit.

Last sled I rode with a stiff throttle was the 99 670ho :wink:

I have ridden a few batteryless EFIs for 100+miles the day after and before I rode my Skidoo 583 with 38mm rounds

The throttle body is butterfly type on both SDI and EFI

My SRV also had butterfly type carbs

How do you think they control the airflow to the engine on SDI/DI or EFI

have you ever rode a 91 Indy 500 38vm round slide and HUGE throttle lever

Or a 95-96 mach 1 or 99 MXZ 670ho 44mm rounds

Those sled I could see the odd person complaining but to complain about Flatslides,me thinks its time to give up on the sport if you can not handle that as there is practically no diference in resistance

srv has only 1 carb less pull had a few for wife and kids .

I heard the same thing from my DOO dealer, they said they wouldnt be ordering any Mach's this year....

what about the new 800 polaris motor its cleanfire injection and puts out 154 HP. i think its going to be the battle of the 800 in the mountains this year
