Yesterday I recieved a strange call from my bank. The woman was calling me to verify that I had been calling the bank to try and do a wire transfer from my account. I informed her that I hadn't and she proceeded to tell me how someone (2 times in the last week) had my social security #, D.O.B., address, and the account number off my old MAC card. They called using a Teletype service to try to access my account. The bank informed the person calling that they don't do this over the phone and I would need to come in and do this in person. The person calling got frustrated and said they would call back Monday. The bank is going to do what they can to find out who is doing this. Now my accounts all have additional passwords on them and Monday I am going to go in and change all my account #'s. At first I was thinking that the only person that might possibly have this info. would be an ex-girlfriend, but then I realized that my insurance co., cell phone co., etc. have this info. Anyone working for them or just some hacker could find this out. Just something to keep in mind when you are giving out any personal info. This has REALLY bothered me. So I guess like my Choppers INC. shirt and the X-FILES say " TRUST NO ONE!"
