I found a guy who has a smashed '96 RX-7 for sale, it need a new front end (mostly sheetmetal). Its got like 110,000miles on it but its in CA, so that means no rust. Does anyone have any feed back on the '96s? I was going to offer $3000 is this to low? I do have to have it shipped to WI and it needs a new front end.

flyntriple,
you can never offer too little for wrecks, nothing but nightmares when you are inexperienced in that area. as for the 96 rx-7 they are little sweethearts.

Sweet ride. Its hard for anyone to give you an idea of its value without seeing the damage. Being a Mazda you had better price the parts before making a decision, they've never been shy about charging.

I'm thinking of doing an 88 RX-7 with a late model injected 5.0/5spd from a mustang, talk about a screamin sleaper.

I bought an 87 RX 7 that had a blown engine. Put a used engine in and some other misc. Drove it for a year, sold it and made 2 grand and also got a 91 Taurus in trade, drove that car 3 years and got sick of it,bought a Bonneville that rocks.

OK sorry, back to the original topic. Parts big bucks, how bad is she twisted underneath?,is the title a total ?

The RXs are cool, the wankel is quite a smooth runner and revs high. I would do some research on replacement body parst first, there were not that many of those sold in the last years, parts may be sparse.

good luck,let us know

A 5.0 efi would definately be a nice swap as well, perhaps a tune port
5.7 ;)

Being a Bow Tie kinda guy yes a TPI 5.7, LT-1 or maybe an LS-1 would be my first choices but since the 5.0 is a fair bit smaller and cheaper/easier to come by it will become the new engine of choice. The project is still in the planning/setting asside the funding stage.

I would keep the Rotary engine in it. Those things are awsome.

A guy at a place i used to work had one and we always went to get coffee with it. Man it flew.

I forget what he did to the engine but he had it all apart, Polished it, I think he did somthing with the exhaust ports and he added stronger components, Bigger intercooler, Bigger turbo and NOS.

THis thing absoluty flew. Its an awsome little Rear drive killer car. Only import i would ever consider buying... Nothing beats the revs and sound.

But its hard on gas and parts are not cheap...
