: Gas Prices
FZ700 10-26-2002, 08:59 PM I live in Minnesota, and it seems like every Thursday the gas prices go up .20-.40 cents and go back down on Sunday. Is it just happening here? I'm getting tired of it! An article in the paper said that the price increase happens because of the weekend usage(people heading to their cabins and vacations). I think thats a bunch of bull! They need to control these oil Companies!

ZR Sled Head 10-26-2002, 09:25 PM We here in Ontario have endured that very thing for as many years as I can remember. Many don't have a clue how hard they're being gouged as they have no idea that 5 cents a litre translates into nearly 25 cents/gal. Sure every few years a politician jumps on the band wagon. He'll hoot and holler about the oil companies working together to fix gas prices but within a few months it always fades from the headlines. Its been the worst here since "Petro Canada" came on the scene. They are always the first to go up in price and always the last to come down.
Ever check out the price of gas in Canada? Now theres something to be upset about, not to say your not paying too much as well.
Try pulling in with a pick up truck and telling the kid, " just throw $50 in and I'll filler up on pay day", sad but true. My wifes full size van when all but empty will take $65-$70 buying regular fuel.
Rediculous, but will it change, not likely.
FZ700 10-26-2002, 09:47 PM Thats about the same thing here, when elections come about they stand behind lowering the price of ges. Thing only thing is that it never happens!
My Yukon takes 30 gallons to fill, but in the winter I travel all over to ride my sled, so pulling the trailer takes even more to travel. I'm just fed up with the whole issue!

Captain Kirk 10-26-2002, 09:54 PM Well, at least u don't have the reformulated crap like we have her in SE WI!
FZ700 10-26-2002, 10:07 PM We are also stuck with oxygenated feuls in MN. There are a few places up north that I know of that carry just plan unleaded fuel.
Oxygenated fuel just leaves a green slim in the float bowls, thats about all it's good for!
I feel your pain!

I am sure they are just doing it jab all of the weekend travelers. I have noticed the same thing here. ???
Wolfman 10-26-2002, 11:56 PM Odd, prices have been quite stable here. We've had some increases over the last month, but no yo-yo pricing over the weekends at all. The last three or four fillups have all ben $1.39 per gallon, todays fillup included.
phazerhater 10-27-2002, 12:55 AM It was around $1.45 early last week and when I filled up today it was $1.59, that's for 89 octane. It will probably be back into the $1.40s again by mon. :(
todatop 10-27-2002, 01:18 AM same thing here in calif..
highlandergerman 10-27-2002, 01:31 AM when we go into canada, we fill up in the states, we always make it back over the boader to fill back up, and this ethanol fuel does suck, but when we do out to montana, they have this 85.5 stuff, worthless.
highlandergerman 10-27-2002, 01:32 AM oh ya, 1.54 per gallon now.
FreezerBurnt 10-27-2002, 01:24 AM 75.7ca here for a liter :cussing: 89octane btw
last week it was 67.4 cents on wedsnesday at 11pm,so I waited a day before filling up just before going to Parry Sound and it was 79.9 cents the next morning at 10am
:cussing: :cussing:
NOW that is BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SNOWFREAK 10-27-2002, 01:53 AM Nothing like that happening here in Sioux Falls, SD but then again not alot of cabins to go traveling too on the weekends either.....and the trails suck around here, I just moved from MN and I am use to ditch baggin, but around here the farmers fence off the ditchs in the summer and don't bother to take them down in the winter, last time I checked SD is a right of way state isnt it? OH YEAH they also fence off the rivers too :cussing: but gas prices pretty much stay the same.....
z800rotax 10-27-2002, 06:53 AM Like the others said,we get bent over real good here in ontario for gas as well  I see the grocery chain Loblaws has opened a few gas stations and they claim they are going to undercut all the other big gas companies :) They say look for them popping up through out the province.
One is planned for Lindsay(they are the most non-sledder friendly town in ontario though),and one for Bracebridge ;)
On a friday night when i go to gas up the truck,2 sleds plus gas cans i drop nearly $200+ before i even leave town :( Plus beer, food etc.
ZR Sled Head 10-27-2002, 07:19 AM I almost fell over when I filled up in Grand Rapids for $28 during a recent parts trip. Its wild we pay $3.00 +++/gal while you folks are in the $1.50 range. Don't complain too hard till you walk a mile in our shoes, man are we getting smoked!!!
Doesn't it make you want to :hallo5: the :hallo3: off everyone of those #%$@$% politicians every time you fill up? It makes a guy think all they do is make :inlove: at each other or  instead of looking after the things that matter. Makes me :cussing:
z800rotax 10-27-2002, 07:47 AM They are more worried about getting themselves 20-30% raises and ensuring that they get a full pension after one term in office :angry:With the hydro increases and now this latest batch of gas pump gouging i'm done with donating to anything. This governemnt is making the general public have a (look out for yourself only mentality) ???
Darryn Duncan 10-29-2002, 12:53 PM As low as .41 here in Winnipeg this morning. Doesn't help me as I drive a Jetta deisel.
Steven Hohman 10-29-2002, 02:45 PM $1.45 here for reg. 87 non-ethanol. In a town called Reese in the thumb always has the best prices, I called up there and they were $1.35 for prem. 92!
yammyman 08-30-2005, 12:44 AM ha, and people were complaining back then, to bad it wasint the prices now
labudda 08-30-2005, 06:10 AM @ yrs from now someone will dig up our threads and say... "well that didn't work" and " Id give my first born yo fill up for 2.79 a gallon"
snow4mydooplz 08-30-2005, 07:02 AM As I was reading this I was not paying attention to the dates of the first few posts... so obviously I was thinking 1.45/gal??? I thought maybe he meant, 2.45/gal and still thought that was cheap.. :bash:
Unfortunately I think we are going to be paying over 3.00/gal for this up coming Holiday weekend due to Katrina !

The same thing has been going on for years here in Gaylord Michigan.
Only one gas station in my little village, open 9-5 on weekdays, 10 am to 2 pm on saturdays, closed on sundays.
1.29$ a litre this year, prices should come up this fall since they get their stock of gas only once a year by ship here. No roads come all the way up here :(
Hopefully it won't be too expensive.
Last winter it cost me about 50-60$ to fill up my sled... hopefully won't be too much more.
revrnd 08-30-2005, 09:50 AM Here in Oshawa a few of the stations drop their price around 10 PM then everyone lines up. Then they go back up in the morning. Why don't they just leave the price in the middle?
Another thing don't you just love the futures traders or "speculators" as Venezuela's Chavez calls them. The king for some oil producing sandbox has indigestion & these clowns jack up the price of oil thinking the guy might die & cause all kinds of geopolitical turmoil. Then when the guy has his Pepto Bismol & his tummy feels better the price never goes down.
BTW, while reading about Venezuela's oil industry last week, I found out that they own Citgo.

Just imagine what the next round of labor contract negotiations are going to be like.
Do not be surprised when negotiations start at 15%-20% over three years.
By the end of 2006 the "Recession" word will be common place.
After president Bush finishes his term our country will have been through 20 years of Reagenomics. If I remember correctly California continues to struggle with recovering economically from Governor Reagans leadership.
Thanks for the return of excess tax revenue George W.
You can have it back now at ten fold and "thank you" for the 15% unemployment rate your astute leadership will leave to the citizens of our nation.
What a guy!
PANTS 08-31-2005, 12:17 PM FZ700, I'm not sure from what part of MN you're from, but I live north of Duluth about 60 miles. That same crap happens steady up here. Today, about 2 hours ago the gas price across the street from my office raised their price to 2.99/gallon.
If Bush decides to tap the oil reserves hopefully that will bring the prices down.

labudda 08-31-2005, 01:25 PM tapped the reserve (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/08/31/national/main806735.shtml)
Bluehaze 08-31-2005, 01:37 PM Paid $2.79 this mornng. Went out for lunch, and same station is at $3.29 now, with an imminent increase again tomorrow. :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:
Steven Hohman 08-31-2005, 02:15 PM I deliver pizza...
Or at least I used to. I really think that today is a good day to quit? I simply can't afford to do so anymore......
snow4mydooplz 08-31-2005, 02:39 PM 3.19/gal here in Grand Blanc Mich.... :dazed: Probably going to be at least 3.29/gal by tomorrow when we want to fill up for the weekend.
Checked with my parents up near Traverse City and they said a station had it for 3.30/gal. today.
permafrost 08-31-2005, 05:50 PM I heard reports of it being at $1.35 @ a place in rosedale Toronto. That works out to $5.18 a gallon. All i can say is thank god i dont drive anything that uses gas on the highway as diesel is still under a buck for now. GO DIESEL :)
Z-Rider 08-31-2005, 08:42 PM Prices in mid-Michigan hit $2.99 last night and are now up to as high as $3.39 today. At $3.00 even it will take me $105 to fill up. That bites but the sled will run regardless.
Z
Do the Doo 08-31-2005, 11:36 PM Diesel here, actually I'm not sure, But I did notice reg gas is $3.33 to $3.60 for premium. I'll have to check diesel, it was running around the same as premium three days ago....
cooley 09-01-2005, 05:12 AM gas here went up from 109.9 a litre to 119.9 lt. in halifax there are spots selling it for 1.29.
the new last night said they wont be suprised to see it go to $2 a litre
cooley 09-01-2005, 05:30 AM i should also add in last nights paper it had an artical about Alberta's Oil Companies, for every dollar a barrel of oil goes up, they will receive an extra $70 million dollars!!!!! that is crazy.
just think of the money these companies are racking in, we will never see 60 cents a litre or even 90 cents a litre again
cooley 09-01-2005, 10:40 AM gas went up another 10 cents a liter today.
labudda 09-01-2005, 10:49 AM 4.55gal in Lansing Michigan
EDIT: source was wrong (thankfully) it is only 3.49 in lansing
Bluehaze 09-01-2005, 11:59 AM Same station as yesterday, up to $3.60 today.
I do believe that in WI they can only raise the prices once per day though :lmao:
Pretty sad when I won't be able to fill up the sled for under $50.00 this winter (if the prices hold). As of today, having filled up yesterday, I have never put $50.00 into my car... but that will end in a couple of hours.
