: Few Pics
poor farmer/logger 06-26-2007, 07:25 PM Hi everyone, things finally slowed down enough around here for me to take a day off and go with my brother for a quad ride. He'd been planning it for a while. I didn't know for sure if I could make it but managed to sneak off for a day and put on a few miles. We put on 170 kms. We would've done more but only my brother brought extra gas and the rest of us were getting low. Had a good ride though anyways. Here's a few pics from the day.

poor farmer/logger 06-26-2007, 07:58 PM Thanks Snow4, the last month and a half now have been pretty busy. It was a little bit of a battle too with mother nature so that didn't help. Spring seeding wouldn't have been to bad but we ended up with alot of extra rain when we didn't need it. Then once we were done seeding it was time to spray. We're just about done with it for now though so we can start to relax again a little bit.

Just incase anyone is wondering or curioius as to how my bike has done so far here's a short little reveiw of it. So far I've got on a little over 1000 kms on it. Only problem I've had so far with it was the speedometer was cutting in and out on it when I was on this last trip. It's working good for now again but I'm going to call the dealer about it and see what he says. Other then that it has worked pretty much flawlessly.

you guys sure have some very nice sensory Ryan.
I sure would like to get up that way one day for a ride with you guys Ryan....
Rick
Boogie_ballbuster 06-27-2007, 09:42 AM wow...you guys are lucky to get 170 in on a trip, i am lucky to get that in a year on my quad. I bought a new sprotsman 500 in 1998 and it only has 1,670 miles on it. I am going to try and get out on it more this year, cool pics no mud lol
Rob
poor farmer/logger 06-27-2007, 09:44 AM Thanks Rick, up where we were riding it's mostly open trails so you can put on lots of miles in a day. You can clip along pretty good most of the time.
Up where we were riding there was a huge forest fire that went threw there about 13 years ago. That kind of spoiled some of the trails. As soon as you get out of it though it's pretty nice again though. There's a diamond company drilling up there right now doing test holes for kimberlite so they've opend up some of the trails as well. They've pretty much turned them into a highway. The one guy we were riding with said this is a shame. This sand trail threw the bush is smoother then our highways. :D
It sure would be fun if we could get together for a ride Rick. It's to bad there's 500 miles seperating us.

poor farmer/logger 06-27-2007, 09:52 AM Hi Rob, that's actually in Kilometers so it comes down to 106 miles. I've been putting on around 1200 miles a year on my dirt bike. I've allready got half that on my quad though so who knows what it'll be at by the end of summer. Not all of my miles are trail riding though. I put on allot of miles running back and forth from the fields. Just checking on them to see how they're doing.
We don't have much for mud holes around here at all. It's all sand so you don't get into much mud at all. Our fields that we farm are the oposite though. They're just one big mud hole.
Wow, you need to put some more miles on that quad of yours. lol..

Rick K 06-28-2007, 11:14 PM I would like to ride up your way Ryan sure is nice though...who do the drilling Major???Midwest?? that would be great if they found something eh maybe a good paying job when the farming done would be right in your back yard how sweet would that be.
I would like to get out for a ride this weekend .....we are going to Steve on Sunday party fire works etc...
Rick
poor farmer/logger 06-29-2007, 01:41 PM Hi Rick, maybe someday everything will work out and we can get together for a ride. It'd be fun just to take off on the quads for a couple of days and ride. Man could we ever put on a pile of miles.
I'm not sure who is doing the drilling up there. They've done a couple hundred test holes and they say that it has the potential to be the worlds largest kimberlite deposit. I think they're waiting for all the pollitics to settle around here first though. I wont go into details but I think there's lots of things going on behind closed doors that people don't know about.
There's even more talk now about a power dam being put in just north of us on the sk. river. I really hope that it goes threw either way. I'd have a couple hundred miles of trails right on my back doorstep. I could drive from home to nipawin and never have to touch a grid road except from here to the bush wich is only 8 miles. They did a pile of testing back in the 80tys to see if it was a suitable spot for one. And everything checked out okay. They've got lots of flow there and some steep banks on either side.
Hopefully you guys can get out for a ride. It's been a little while since you've been out hasn't it? Sounds like it should be a good time.

Rick K 06-30-2007, 09:25 AM Hi Ryan yes it would be great to get together for a ride one day that is for sure...yes for a few days...
Sounds like thing are going to take off in your area with work right away id they find the mother load. Rumor mill around here is they think they found the mother load up around Snow lake witch that nice little town does need. I just hope none of these people are mining investors...
Power dam would be great too I'm waiting to see if the green light will be given for our next dam Conawapa which is a huge one...
My leg is still open but is is getting better I guess if I could keep it dry I would be able to ride maybe Sunday. Steve has a bunch of guys coming out he asked me to take them out so I will see how things are on Sunday. Steve smashed up his race car on Thursday night races.
The water in the lake Winnipeg E-coil is not good this weekend it is high I don't swim in that lake anyway.
What are you guys up to this long weekend bro coming home for another ride. How are the crops coming done spraying...crops around here look unreal we just need some heat with sun....have a great Canada Ryan....play safe..
Rick :D
poor farmer/logger 07-01-2007, 12:00 AM Hi Rick, we just got a new computer. Our old one was giving us lots of grief so we bit th bullet and bought a new one. It's a HP with way more goodies then I think I'll ever figure out. I can even hook it up to our tv and record with it. It's sure gona take me a long time to get this one all figured out. Took me about half a hour just to get it all hooked up. Had to figure out what everything was. For a change I had to actually read the instructions. lol..
You don't want to get infection in your leg, that's for sure. Hopefully things work out and you can get out for a rip.
Got to go for now.
Ryan
Rick K 07-01-2007, 08:04 AM Hi Ryan good show ...I had to laugh when you said I had to read the instructions, sounds like me I do the same thing I can do it with out them...I guess it a guy thing ha ha...,sounds like a nice putter eh...all you need is high speed then you will be up to date...Joe has the dish I don't now what is is worth though a month.
Rick
poor farmer/logger 07-01-2007, 04:00 PM Boy is this ever slow going. I'm still figuring out everything. I had to look hard just to figure out how to shut down this new Vista system.
Maybe this summer yet we can get high speed. They've got high speed off of one of the cell towers near me now. We have to get above the tree line though to get it. We brought home our 48' tower a few weeks ago and we're going to try and get it all set up this summer. I really hope that we can get it but who knows. I think the cost of it is 65/month and the hardware is 250 or something like that.
It would be good for the area if they could get something going but I'm still pretty doubtfull that it's going to happen.
Boy is this keyboard different too. I've made a whole bunch of corections so far becaues of missed keys. Probably missed some others too.
My brother was going to come home again and go to a old pioneer show up at Nipawin but he decided to stay home and build his new deck instead. I think next weekend we'll go down to Saskatoon for the Western Development Museum pionera show. Lots of things to see there. They have live demonstrations of everything as well.

bombardier01902 07-12-2007, 08:41 PM what size cc is you engin i have an 800 max xt and love it most power i every need
poor farmer/logger 07-13-2007, 06:35 PM I've got the 650 XT. So far I'm happy with it. It's got all the power I'll ever need and then some. Those little tires only have so much traction anyways. :D These quads aren't much good going down steep hills but boy will they ever climb up them. I got part way down a old river bank road that was washed out and had to turn around half way. Because it was just about straight up and down with washouts all across it. I pulled it around by hand and drove out of there like nothing. It's really good in the sand too.
