puree 09-03-2007, 06:28 PM We are trying to keep the pinned topic for the information and items relating directly to the ride,,,
We will end up using the link from the pinned thread to lead potential donaters to,,,, only trying to keep it professional
so tear this one up and we can move items from this thread into the pinned thread as needed
I believe we left off with Deb leading Allison all the way to Lake supreme,,,,
snow4mydooplz 09-03-2007, 06:45 PM Snowmutt and I kind of figured out that's what was going on Brian.......So in this thread I can be my self and tear it up right? :whistling:

73Lifeliner 09-05-2007, 02:54 PM Are we able to meet there on January 31st and stay just a few nights or will that be too late for any of the rides? I was thinking Terri and I could get there on Thursday the 31st and stay through Saturday night. Then we could move down to Gaylord and ride that week there.
Richard
Jack Frost 09-05-2007, 04:38 PM We are heading up Tuesday night with Snow Prowler and staying till Saturday....I think the S.W. ride itself is on Friday. I'm sure Brian, Keith or Brian will check in on this.
73Lifeliner 09-05-2007, 05:05 PM Thanks. If thats the case you can pretty much count us in then. I'll wait to hear from you.

You can come and stay for as many or as few days as you would like. We would like to see you for even just one day if that's all you could make.

The whole week is the SW ride. As far as one main ride, if there is one, it is usually on Wednesday or Thursday. But don't worry Richard, there will be plenty to do and rides every day.
Why not come on up and ride with us all week and then head to Gaylord for just a few days. The riding in the Munising area is much better than in Gaylord.

you can make just one day or so, if you want. there is no reason for you to count yourself out because of the entire week thing. had one member show up for a days ride last year. seems I had to go fetch him at the end of the day :whistling: . yeah a couple others too ,want names  .

That is the truth! I was with them as was Double A  Barry is the man when it comes to driving in a Blizzard  That is one bad Dodge truck and trailer  It would be worth it !!! !!! !!! A great bunch of people  The last thing you need to worry about is being stranded or broke down, Between this bunch there is no problem that can't be taken care of !!! I was not there for 10 minutes when the phone rang and I was off with MXZWFO ( Who I had never met) to pick-up a couple of sled that had brokendown... I would go anywhere with these people as I said a great bunch of people...who I consider friends and do things with year round
snow4mydooplz 09-09-2007, 08:36 AM Hey Ladies.........I don't know if you have read in the SW main chariy ride thread that I have suggested an all woman's ride one morning/afternoon.
I just wanted to see what you girls thought about this and to see if you would be up for that or perhaps think it would not be a good thing. There would be quite a few of us so I'm not too concerned about safety as it comes in numbers and I know we would have some sort of communication ability if we had a breakdown of some kind.
Are you girls up for this? I for one want to show the men we can doo this ! ,and have a blast doing it too.......We can call it the " girls ride out" lol

Really our mishaps were very minor vs's the number of sleds we had in our event . With close to 55 sleds running I think we only had one meltdown, a split hyfax that ate a rail, and one event where we were turned around which put us very low on fuel and oil and did'nt want to chance it being stranded out inthe bush. Oh and one kitty that did'nt want to drink from the straw :lookaround: .I was in everyone of these adventures and everyone made sure we had a plan to make sure everyone was safe and accounted for. The only one I was worried about was johnny when we left him at the seney bar to wait for the trailer , really thought they would have to load johnny up too :whistling: .
We all have enough years and miles under us to know a person could be in some serious trouble out there and thats the last thing we would want to see.
Someone11, I use to be gone from school a week some times 2 for deer hunting trips with the family and always worked it out with the school . I made up my work or took it with me or even doubled up before the trip . Through all the years of school I never was there during hunting season , even when I went to college I made arrangments for the week off. Teachers are pretty good if you work out a plan, mabye you could use the trip as a assignment of sort. Besides I think you would learn more on the trip than sitting in that class room :undercover: lol.

snow4mydooplz 09-09-2007, 03:07 PM Donna is up for a half day ride, but would like to know what you have in mind.[/b]
Well...I was waiting to hear some suggestions from the other female riders because I want everyone to be happy with it ya know? Personally I think a quick little ride 50 miles or so would be good. No Bars involved unless its for a bite to eat or a coke or something. Does Donna have any thoughts or suggestions or any other of the riders??? I'm going to get my map's out and try to come up with a suggestion for a quick little trip but any suggestions are very welcomed.
Snow4
Chicky_Doo 09-09-2007, 05:39 PM A trip after breakfast. Ride for awhile, maybe grab lunch..... and head back after that... 100 miles or so I think would be appropriate... depending on the trail conditions

BAT-DooBee 09-09-2007, 09:22 PM Hey Snow4, I'm in! w00t This is a breast cancer ride after all! Some breast cancer rides don't allow guys as 'official riders", just the girls. I have no idea where to suggest, so will rely on your suggestions. I only have 1 request.....no parking lots please :lmao:

I believe Cathy, Barb and myself are up to a little more at this point but things could change on that too. Play it by ear I guess.
There is plenty of riding all week long so I'm not worried about that.

We may need to get the fire going ahead of time and have the hot dogs and all out there already,,,, just to make it easier for everyone. (Just a thought)

snow4mydooplz 09-11-2007, 11:57 AM I have been studying this map.....thinking about a route 50 or so miles (give or take a few) So Girls?, what do you think? Of course this ride will be done a few day's after the official start of the SW ride and we will probably already have rode alot of these trails to determine trail conditions ect, but just wanted to put this up so you can see too.

I don't see a problem with that at all Dave. :) But, I see a lot of people probably changing their minds on the fly anyway. I really think that since we are all staying in the same building this time, it might be much easier to let everyone know when the organized rides are happening and just tell them to show up.
The boondocking ride is your gig, man. If you would like to have people sign up, then by all means, go for it. You're in charge!
I would really like to go with you, but it depends on what Donna would like to do. It's her vacation too. If I don't sign up, does that mean I can't go?
Jack Frost 09-15-2007, 11:13 AM Why not have a meeting or a sign-up list every night and set up the next day? I know I want to go Boondocking a couple of times w00t For those who have never tried it or are a little unsure if they would like to try it, Dave And Jason really know what they are doing when it comes to Boondocking! puree 09-15-2007, 01:27 PM I like the idea of a meeting each night to set the next day up also, but as devils advocate, I just dont see it happening, someone will want to be downtown doing their thing, someone wont be back from the day before,,,, it is hard enough getting everyone to show up for the raffle at a set time.
Maybe the thing to do is set up some sort of organized ride each day (maybe 2 rides per day) between now and then. Have sign up sheets there that let members sign up for rides they are interested in, and go from there.
I like the idea of a ride to the falls,,, a nice 200+ mile day, but I am not sure if this is something we want to have a large group on?? Maybe if there is enough interest, we actually have 2 groups going to the falls.
What we need to do is get the number of members and friends attending up and try to get as much input as possible into the daily organized rides. Then we can put something together that will have everone smiling,,,, just because we are doing an organized ride each day does not mean that everyone has to be on it, just those that want to,,,,
snowmutt 09-15-2007, 01:43 PM Why not have a meeting or a sign-up list every night and set up the next day? I know I want to go Boondocking a couple of times w00t For those who have never tried it or are a little unsure if they would like to try it, Dave And Jason really know what they are doing when it comes to Boondocking! I think this would be the right thing to do, one of the factors in all the rides will be snow conditions and weather each day . Really cant set a trip to a destination if the trail will not support it , look at last year . hopfully we will have plenty of cold and snow all week so its just a matter of picking a group for the day.
I think if we have a list of rides/ leaders in mind before the ride and then plan them into the wk after we get up there to see whats what. Maybe after the 1st day of scoutting out the trails we could have a meeting that night to set the rides to the days. I.E we cant set a boonedock day on mon if dave is lead dog and is not there till wed .
It would be easy though all we need is a posterboard listing the rides and leaders of the ride and after a little meeting we can assign the ride w/ the day with a leave time. ALSO have a spot to meet for the ride group to leave from . IE all rides met and leave from the front of hotel. this way there can be a acurate sled count and know who going and whos not. I think some rides will be very big so we might have to spilt it up into 2 groups going to the same location, the bigger the group the harder it is to keep track of everyone.
How many rides do we have plan now?
1 ladies ride
2 guys ride
3 boonedock day
4 falls ride
5 burnt wennie at night ride
6 Ride to the Seney hotdog stand and playing afterwards
Im sure we will be going west out torwards autrain/marqutte too for a day run ,maybe ice caves? miners castle?, diggers for a triple, I know alot of rides will be born on the fly , all we need to do is list it the night before.
ANYONE HAVE A RADAR GUN ? maybe a 1/2day of just ripping up 600ft for somthing to do.
A list of attendees arival and departure days would be cool too as this would help in planning the rides too. Brian can we do this when you update the list so we know whos coming and going? , not to mention it would give everyone a idea of maybe convoying up and back together. I thought it was cool last year when we were able to run with the others incase of breakdowns on the road.

SLeDHeaDDude800 09-15-2007, 02:24 PM Why not have a meeting or a sign-up list every night and set up the next day? I know I want to go Boondocking a couple of times w00t For those who have never tried it or are a little unsure if they would like to try it, Dave And Jason really know what they are doing when it comes to Boondocking! Thanks Mike!
JasonF 09-15-2007, 04:16 PM I will lead a group to some good offtrail play as well but I don't want to set anything in stone until we see what conditions we are dealing with. One of my personal favorite boondocking rides is to trailer over to Marquette and boondock up to Big Bay for a plate of Bait Pile nachos  The real adventure begins on the return trip as the nachos begin to work there magic and the riders begin to focus more on pits stops than boondocking :lmao:
Preferrably I like to keep my groups under 8 riders as ( I'll say it :p ) many times even I dont know where in the heck I'm going so turning around at dead ends can be common. I typically set the destination on my gps and take whatever two tracks head in the direction I want to go. Of corse frequent stops will be made at any and every play area spotted  But like I said this can only happen if good ole mother nature is good to us  .

Assuming your sleds are registered in your state , all you need for over here is a trail permit for each sled @ 25.00 ea. You can pick them up on the way up

only if your state honors michigans registration.
idooski 10-20-2007, 09:20 AM I don't believe that there are any State registrations that Michigan doesn't honor. I do know that New York doesn't honor Michigan's registration. If we keep our current governor much longer, I'm sure that we won't be honoring other states registrations for long.

If thats the case and we happen to going out of state. I will be making some interchangable plates with the differant reg stickers on them so you just need to change the plate. There's NO way im going to plaster a bunch of differant reg stickers all over my sled!
I wish they would go back to the org 3"x3" reg stickers and the permant reg no#'s . Atleast then its just a 3x3 sticker you need to find a place for.

LOL Butch.......look how fast he got up and got back on though...(.compared to me anyway. lol)
look how many times he would make an awesome jump and not fall off, but yeah, for seeing him the first time it's a shame he didn't nail one of his jumps for you.

Jack Frost 10-29-2007, 04:30 PM He was a nice kid  I think they called him Jman? He also was getting married soon after the ride  But the best part was when we got back and he trying to figure out how he was going to get his sled in the back of his truck and Aaron and I threw it in  That Aaron is a strong old farmboy  Hey Puree...is Jman coming this year?
puree 10-29-2007, 08:23 PM I talked to Jamin just the other day,,, he is a member here but not sure what the user name is,,, jwonch or something like that. His last name is Wonch. Jamin is now married and doing very very well,,, He is planning on making it down for a few days,,, said something about his father-in-law has a summer house about 2 minutes away from our hotel,,, so he is planning on staying there for his few days. I know that sled was modded, but I thought he had all the trail set up on it. I am sure there is an extra heat exchanger as well as trail heads for the thing as his other heads wouldnt last out there at all.
He does have it back together and is ready to ride again though.
I know when he came up and rode up in Houghton with us, he blew my mind. Some of the jumps and tricks he was doing were absolutely amazing. I know that Fred, Cathy, and Paul all witnessed his playings. That kid does things that I didnt even do when I was young and in good shape LOL
Anyhow, I will keep working him to see if we cant get him up there for more than a few days this time. I know he was pretty bummed that it ended like it did as he was planning on riding a couple of days with us last trip and didnt get the chance. I want to make it up towards his house (Marquette area) and ride with him sometime,,, he knows the area really well and has some awsome places to go and play in the powder,,,
crnsuperduty 10-30-2007, 08:35 AM I am going to try to make it for a few days. Either go up sat-tuesday or come in wednesday late. I hate driving the whole way by myself but that is the way it will probably happen. Still contingent on my wifes work schedule, it is her busy time of year.[/b]
Keep me in mind Matt. I can absolutly not go for the entire week, but possibly a 4 or 5 day weekend. If you get to Kazoo, I'll drive the rest. I have a 4 place trailer and diesel truck. We just need to find 4 of us to split fuel.
