snowmutt 11-03-2007, 11:16 AM Hey, I have stayed at that hotel before,,,[/b]
Thats our 1 day run spot , can make it there in 2-2 1/2 hrs . we leave at 7ish and were riding by 10am, ride all day(fife lk ,starvation lk, t/c kali area). we normally get back to the truck around dark and head back home with anywhere from 100 to 200miles for the day.
That sounds good dave , we norm get gas in gaylord when heading to the yopper but 4 mile would be good . WHat route you thinking once in the up? I was thinking up through trout lk to 28 then across , think it would be the shortest and easyest ya think. Hit newberry for the final fill up maybe sooner, trout lk /moran pending on mpg at the time. Bucking a head wind really likes to make that gage drop :bash:

Maybe plan it so we drop at 4mi and ride all day north and have a place to stay the night and ride back the next day . We could get a ways north in a day , close to the bridge ,petosky area.

jtkennedy9 11-05-2007, 04:10 PM I know some great off-trail stuff in Gaylord, if we want to ride there....
crnsuperduty 11-06-2007, 07:33 AM If its in december or January, I may be able to make it. Its a little farther for me, but thats ok. I'm actually headed almost there today. I'm going to houghton lake.

I would love to join in. Between JT and myself, there shouldn't be a trail, or off trail spot missed, LOL.....For some reason I just love that little trip to the Elmyra Bar for a potato hamburger, don't know why, but I love that spot. :D

idooski 11-07-2007, 10:43 AM We have the cabin up for sale so that we can afford to do more weekends around the state instead of always having to go to Irons. Hopefully we can join in.
puree 11-07-2007, 02:35 PM would love to have you and Donna join in Keith. I wouldnt mind doing it in Irons sometime also,,,, Maybe I could bring a guest of honor up from down here

Rick and I would love that !
dooman 11-07-2007, 03:22 PM instead of always having to go to Irons.[/b]
that makes it sounds bad :p . some of the best riding I have done through my life has been those trails. could be I have logged more miles on those trails than any other system and know them like the back of my hand. but they are less traveled than most I have been on. I will still let you stay with me, when WE build it :lmao: , it just hit me its a shorter drive to my place.
idooski 11-07-2007, 06:39 PM that makes it sounds bad :p . some of the best riding I have done through my life has been those trails. could be I have logged more miles on those trails than any other system and know them like the back of my hand. but they are less traveled than most I have been on. I will still let you stay with me, when WE build it :lmao: , it just hit me its a shorter drive to my place.[/b]
Don't get me wrong. I think that the trails in the Irons area are among the best in the state. It's just even though we don't owe anything on it, the expenses really add up and it keeps us from going other places to explore.
I'm ready to build whenever you are, bro. Let's get it going! I'm gonna need a place to stay. :)
someone11 11-07-2007, 07:43 PM I may possibly be in on this one also. But first id like to ride around idooski's house on the trails, just to get used to my sled and how it handles on trails, and also getting used to riding with you guys/a group of people. I Mapquested it and its only 3hrs and 48mins from my house. Not a bad drive for me. If i do actually do this i could stop at idooski's and follow him there. Is this going to be a short like 2-day thing?
snow prowler 11-07-2007, 08:05 PM Is this going to be a short like 2-day thing?[/b]
I would make it a two day thing. Go up in the morning ride all day, and leave for home the next day.
snow4mydooplz 11-08-2007, 05:57 AM We have done a trip to 4-mile many times in 1 day. You just get up early, on the Rd by 5a.m and on the trail by 9a.m.....Ride all day and back home by 11p.m. but it does make for a long day and your pretty tired when you get home.
We do prefer to make a weekend out of it however and head up friday after work, check into the super8, get up sat and ride all day and then stay another night. Sunday we check out load our truck and then go for a few hours, head back to the truck and go home. It's a trip Rick and I do frequently and you can head in any direction you want from 4mile depending on snow conditions. Sometimes South towards houghton lake is out, but usually you can take your pick.

puree 11-09-2007, 08:28 AM What would be wild would be to have someone who didnt really want to ride come along,,, then everyone meet at the gas station at 4 mile and load up there suitcases into the one tow vehicle with the non rider. Then everyone head out and work their way up towards the bridge area. The tow vehicle could also pull a trailer along in case anyone has troubles along the way. Then when we all make it to the hotel, we would have our gear already. We could spend the night there and then head back towards 4 mile the following day. Now the fun part,,, find someone who isnt wanting to ride!!!! I know it could be done and that would be an awsome trip.
I have also mentioned doing this at the bridge and take a week to work across the UP to copper harbor and back in a week. I think that would also be an awsome trip!!! PM me if anyone is serious about crossing the UP and we may see if we can get something like that planned also.

I would be glad to haul the trailer and vehicle, but I don't know if I would reliable enough to get there ahead of you. LOL... :D
puree 11-09-2007, 04:56 PM I will start another thread soon about getting interest in crossing the UP,,,, Dave, if you make this trip, you wont be running the truck. You will be on the trail riding with us. I am sure I can come up with someone to run the support vehicle. Pull an enclosed trailer behind it with possibly a couple sleds extra as in incaser,,,, more details coming in a new thread.

Naw Thanks any way Berry. My brother is going to drag me up to Houghton Lake that weekend for a guys weekend. He has a spare sled for me to ride. I really don't like riding other peoples sleds. But in this case, It is a family sled that we all ride. So it's not like I'm borrowing someone else's sled to ride.

I have been trying to get him to put that sled back together for like what 3 years now? I know there are parts that need to be bought for both sleds. Not sure which one would be cheaper or faster to get back together.
With the ammount of snow we have here I am completely content riding around here. Not to mention Im still not exactly sure whats wrong with my speedo yet. Need to go out to the dooski cave and tear into it! Ive heard it could be a drive bearing and Ive read its the sensor behind the secondary. Wont know till we get it torn apart.
Besides that, I believe Chicky is working that weekend and Im not imposing on anyone to help load or unload!
dooman 02-13-2008, 07:14 AM me too Fred. I am sure we could come up with the needed components.
idooski 02-13-2008, 08:28 AM All you guys have to do is give me money for parts and it's together. I haven't gotten any to grow on my trees out back yet. Geeze, I have to take that crap on here too?

we are currently working on a formula to get the proper dna to get that done. right now it looks like a cherry tree is a good base to start with. you have apples right, that may be the problem. that and hoosier dirt helps.
