Hey folks, I just checked my coolant surge tank and found a skim of white waxy stuff floating in the coolant. It does not appear to be "sludge" from oil contamination. A friend of mine says he thinks that the coolant may be breaking down. Anyone ever see this before?

Yes, but only in an auto application. I wouldn't think sleds run hot enough to breat it down.

might be a good thing to take a look at on everybodys sled,,,, something to add to a fall checklist.

Good idea to change it every year. Doesn't hold much and only takes a few minutes.

Mine is drained now awaiting a new inline temp sensor coupler.

Actually sleds can and sometimes do run pretty hot - and getting there suddenly is a whole lot easier with the small reservoirs these machines have. Low snow, or cold, hard snow are some of the worst conditions. Usually warm weather allows enough wet "stuff" to be kicked up to cool sufficiently.
