The "New Wave" of offences out here in our town has added throwing snowballs at people's satellite dishes and knocking them off signal. Personally it's happened 3 times and all I do is re-align, but the others out there have to pay $75.00 for a visit from the installer and a 4 day wait. If you have HD, it requires calling the service provider to get a permission download and waiting in a long queue with all the other folks afflicted with the same juvenile delinquency GRRRRR !!!!

That sucks Simon, I am glad we are very remote here at Renegade HQ with no neighbours. It would take one hell of a snowball to knock my ten footer off of orbit. It must be a hassle for most with the small dishes as the KU band signal is not very wide and alot harder to tune in than C-band. My dish has a dual LNB so it can be a bear to dial it back in the couple times I have had to do it.

The best methods of protection would be to mount the dish in a high location / unseen or camouflage the dish itself, go stealth mode. One could probably assume that it is the same individuals responsible for all of these offenses. Another option that could put an end to these miscreants would be a motion sensor activated video camera that directly records onto the hard drive. These systems have come down large in pricing recently. the last young gentlman I found stealing money from a friends car in my drive had the car door ever so gently pressed against his legs . when released I was informed that his father would surely be back to chat with me in a few but sadly never showed up . must have gotten lost on the way :whistling:

I kind of like the alarm system on the beginning of Robocop for my personal useage.

here is a good hint , take a permenent marker and draw two lines , one horizontal and one vertical where u adjust the antenne . if it gets knocked out u have a refrence point to get the signal back .

has saved me a lot of money from the snow slideing off the roof and hitting the dish !!!

Put a bullseye target up there with words " hit it, I dare you, and im watching you".......might be just enough to scare them...I don't know.

Done that, problem is that most of the community has paid for the installation and have to pay again for the re alignment then call the service provider (after waiting hours in a phone queue) to get HD permission files downloaded to their reciever. One antenna of a neighbour was hit so hard that it bent the Low Noise Broadcast Filter arm in relation to the parabolic reflector. Some of these kids have quite the arm and should be playing Baseball.

lead works fine all the time. for this instance salt would work ,I have felt it before :whistling: .
