Neighbour has an 04 or 05 Skandic 600 with the high/low gearcase. The fluid on the chaincase dipstick is quite thin and the fill plug on the top says 'Oil'. Does this model use engine oil rather than gear oil?

The book says use BRP 413 802 800 synthetic chain case oil $$$ You can use Dextron IV ATF
