well it is funny but its not if you know what i mean. one good thing about it is itshould be covered under warrenty. he called a dealer and they said it could have been when they put the temperature guage on it that they may not have bled the system and it cooked itself. the dealership is going to look at it tommorow so i will post more when he finds out.

man if it was the dealers fault that it puked I sure as heck would not want them to work on it again. sucks for the owner, not the first memory I would want of a new sled. probably will have that thought in the back of his mind everytime it is ridden.

i would want that motor taken down to see if theres any heat damage! the saying goes you get what you pay for! spend the money and get a doo :p

Hold on here. The sled didn' t die on its own. Sounds like it had some help. They added a temperature gauge and either left an air bubble or restricted coolant flow. GLS warned when installing these things not to restrict the coolant flow.

So lets get this straight. The sled did not die, IT WAS MURDERED!!!

What's the response going to be when the first report of a burned down Doo hits the board? Won't happen, ya right.

That's one way to put it. It reminds me of the time a friend took his '90 MX on its first ride. It blew the rad hose off. My dealer changed the rad cap when I picked up my '90 Mach 1, as there was a recall due to the cap not opening. When I checked his cap it was the original cap. Luckily there was no damage to the motor.

When we went to his dealer, they didn't know about it. They looked in a binder & sure enough there was the notice !!! :cussing: :withstupid:

Cooley, you're lucky you're so far away, I'd bring out the ZRT and spank your ###. The rest of you downing the F7 cause of improper setup are just plain pathetic. :cussing: If it was a doo you wouldn't see the flack you're giving, AC riders have more respect. :inlove:

I don't know, I was reading posts in the cat board and they're talking about it being "normal" to need to rebuild your clutch every 1000 miles. Doesn't sound too reliable to me.

Doo = yellow too, and yes, we're always eating a lot of that for lunch!!!! :D

1000 miles for clutch rebuild...that's rediculous. Hopefully those other posters were on drugs. Almost 4000 miles on my last sled and no clutch problems.

Many people tear there clutch down every day to clean it and inspect it. A clutch needs regular maitance to keep it opweraating correct. And springs replaced as they take a set.

6 miles? HAS to be a dealer error or something big got missed from the factory. That really sucks though. No matter what color you ride you gotta feel bad for a guy with a brand new sled and doesnt even get the watch the second digit on the odometer turn before it blows up!

It is a shame to see a new sled burn down, i'm not going to say anything disrespectfull.I had a sled that melted twice in one winter,it cost me big bucks to fix so i know it's not funny.Just remember guys when your makeing fun of someones bad fortune that when the tables are turned and it happens to you, paybacks a ##### i know because i used to run my mouth alot and then it happend to me,it wasn't funny at all.

I think it probably has a lot to do with the median age of the people in question. The older you get the more you realize that there isn't really a "best brand". All of the big 4 make great sleds, and all of the big 4 have their problems. But I haven't seen the bashing of Doo by AC/Pol/Yam nearly as often as the other way around.

My post was not intended as a bash to start a conflict, it was just an observation. I've owned Yamaha (87 exciter), polaris (94 XLT SKS), arctic cat (88 JAG 440) and now Ski doo (97 Formula 500 DLX, 02 Legend, 03 MXZ 500) . From My experience I had way more problems with the cat than any other sleds. It had clutch problems, recoil problems, and electrical problems all within the first year. If these weren't on the same sled it would be different. The exciter had clutch issues but nothing else, the polaris had recoil issues and nothing else, and have yet to have any problems with the ski-doos.

I do think all the companies make and design good sleds now days it just seems that cat doesn't address past problems and fix it in the new models.

The reason I pointed the posts on the other board out is that 10-12 people with different year and model sleds all say they had the same problem and Cat should resolve it, not say it's normal for them to wear out that fast. If I owned a new Cat, I would sure as he11 get together with the other people having that problem and demand they make it right.

Got the word back on my (dead F7), as it turns out it was a wiring problem (2 wires touch on the jack shaft) causing false messages going to my computer. It' ll be home from the vet tomorrow, so Cooley you better fire up the Renegade and I'll meet you at the Hunters Mnt rd Saturday morning. :D
