Hi,

I have a 04 ZR 900 EFI with 3,800 miles. I was driving 20mph yesterday and suddenly there was no power to the track. The belt still spins, but if you give it even a little bit of throttle it make a high pitch whining sound and seems like something is spinning at super high speeds. Sound like it's coming from the belt side of the sled.

Luckily, it happened when I was 200 yards from a road and not earlier when I was 20 miles into the woods in Jackman, Maine.

Any idea what my issue may be? Hoping just gear ring? Previous owner had diamond drive and drive shaft serviced last Spring.

I really can't help ya out unless I either hear it or see it... You are going to have to take a look yourself, climb under your sled and look up into the tunnel and see if you have snapped your drive shaft and its just hanging there... because if there is no crunching noises... a spinning diamond drives sounds like your high pitch noise to me... arctic cat had a recall on that sled for weak drive shafts. take it to a dealer. :)
