a question for the ofsc insiders.

is the subscription to OSM no longer included with the purchase of a trail permit?

Yes it is.
Their contract expires in May 2008.
They started putting in a card last year and it's still in there this year asking people to complete it and fax or send it in to stay on their mailing list for 2 years. If you're not receiving it, contact them and tell them that you bought a permit last year which means they should have you on their mailing list and be sending you their magazine. That is one of the biggest issues the OFSC has with OSM, is that they don't send to everyone they're supposed to. That will most likely be why they will go to another magazine for next year as OSM hasn't corrected that problem in years. You should have had Volume 22 number 3 the Ont. Trail Map edition several weeks ago. Early December I think.

Hope this helps Paul.

Hopefully, in the future, the "procedure" from when you buy your permit & receive your magazine is improved. I know a few friends that seemed to go around in circles when contacting the selling club, the OFSC & OSM as to why they weren't receiving their magazines. Each blamed the other as to why they hadn't received OSM.

The clubs should be required to get the trail permit paperwork to the OFSC in a more timely matter. Also w/ computers, the new magazine should be made aware of new permit buyers quicker so the sledder can receive the next magazine (rather than wait until the following season).
