Well, took the 583 out for the first time and had a few frustrating issues.
It ran great for an hour or so, then it would randomly lose power during acceleration. Sort of like it was starved for fuel. It would almost die then, with some throttle help, it would start to recover. Then it would back fire and die.
I'd start it up, it would run great for a few minutes then same thing all over.
This went on for a while till the pull rope wouldn't retract in the middle of a field.


The sled came out of a warm garage, so we tryed gas line antifreeze. It ran enough after that we felt that wasn't the issue.
Also put new plugs in, but no help.

Any suggestions of where I should start to look for the issue would be appreciated.

Check your carbs, they mught need tobe cleaned. Sounds like what my STX did & it had a 583. Cleaned the carbs then it was fine.
