found the problem on the mxz 600. the stator was defect but when i tested the stator it tested good even compared with the new one the tests readings were the same ,even tried the old stator back on after putting the new one and it did not start, put the new one on and the engine fired right away.so be carefull guys even if tests are good does not mean it really is good. i just took a chance and was lucky cause the part is really expensive

How do you test a stator? I think mine may be bad.
Thanks,
Jemms

Hi Jemms, i went to a local shop that builds and repairs stators, and they tested it and told me it tested ok. But i was not sure it was ok so i found a dealer that had a new stator in stock and compared the resistance of the ignition and they were the same(34 ohms) for the WH and RD wires and the specs are 24-36 ohms and 3-6 ohms for the WH and BK/RD wires. So i took a chance cause i was pretty sure the stator was the problem cause everything else related to the ignition was ok. They say the stator is 90% the cause of ignition troubles.
