I just bought a 2001 Mountain Cat 800 with a rebuilt engine (60 miles on it).
One pot was replaced as well as both pistons, rings, seals, and the crankshaft and bearings, etc....
I let it idle for about 10 minutes then checked the compression at full throttle. Altitude was 1776 feet. One cylinder (the new pot) was 120 psi and the other was about 112-115 psi.
Cold the psi was 125 and 120 (new pot has the higher psi warm and cold).
Since this has only 60 miles on it since the rebuild, will these numbers improve? And what should they be for this engine/altitude?
Been searching the damn interweb for hours and can't find this info. I was assuming the compression would be well over 125 but am thinking the rings are not fully seated yet. Am I wrong??
Oh yeah and I did the test with a $30 Canadian Tire gauge (Innova Equus brand).
How long should this cat be on 1:100 premix (plus injection)? That stuff stinks.
How long before I can run it like it longs to be run? :)
