I was looking at scopes a few years back. The Leupold was nice but :cussing: for that kind of money

I looked at a few Nikon models and thought they were of high quality. The optics definatly top of the line, again more than I wanted to spend.

So I ended up buying a Simmons 3-10 w/ 44 mm objective. Nice scope, great for low light conditions. Big objective~more light~

Here is the big buck slayer package. Rem. 7600 pump 30.06 in custom wood.

Good luck this season bro ;)

My Dad and I both shoot Leupold Vari X III's and we really like them but I dont think you have to have a $300 scope to shoot well. The person behind the gun has the biggest impact anyway. We shot out rifles last weekend and my sister felt bad because she wasnt shooting quite as well as my dad and I. We were shooting 2 inch groups and she was shooting 3 inch (off a crappy rest) but she had a lever action 30-30 with a 2.5 power scope while we had ruger M77's with our Leupolds turned up to 8! She can really shoot!

i PICKED MINE UP AT CABELA, THEN I SHOT IT THE NEXT DAY, IT WAS OFF TO THE RIGHT EIGHT INCHES AND UP 5 AFTER BEING BORE SIGHTED, I COULD NOT ADJUST IT (RAN OUT OF CLICKES) SO I HAD TO GO TO CABELAS LAST NIGHT AND GET A NEW BASE AND RINGS, SHOT IT THIS MORNING AND 8 INCHES TO THE LEFT, AND 3 INCHES HI. I ADJUSTED IT AND NOW IT WILL HIT THE TARGET AND IT WILL GROUP DOWN TO MY THUMB. PERTTY DARN GOOD IN MY OPION.

Thanks Wolfie. I have a few wall hangers from the late 1800s. Damascus barrels and all. ;)

Mxz7 That remington's woodwork is awesome. My dad has the same gun in 308. It's 20 something years old and has some really nice wood carvings in it but the wood itself is nothing like yours. Is that custom made or did you buy it like that?

I use a $90 bushnell buck???? scope . I first put one on my old 303 when I started hunting . I like it so much when I could afford to get the riffle I wanted I spent the money on the gun and bought the same bushnell buckwhatever to put on it. Never missed a shot and It's been banged around more than most.

That is all Remington. They manufacture a few with custom wood stocks. Rare? I donno, never saw another one similar to it yet.

My wife bought it for me. Nice gift eh? She rocks :D

where do you find a woman like that? My wife hates anything that has to do with the slotter of inocent animals! Needless to say it takes me a while to clean out the freezer after a moose kill. ???

Regor - I'm sure you would find plenty of us here who would love to offload a few moose steaks from you... I'll suppose I will have to be the first to volunteer. :hallo1:

I only use the Leupold Vari X III and swear by them. Its not about how accurate the scope is or how durable they are. Most scopes are. But rather how fast you can aquire the optics when looking thru the scope. WIth the Leupold its right away. I was able to pick off a running deer last year thanks to it.

I go hunting with my dad and he uses a Buris which is also very good but I prefer Leupold.

they had tried to get me to buy the buris scope, but i declined, i just liked how the nikon looked, on the out side, but, esspicaly on the inside. only problem this year is to much cover, all the leafs have not fallen off yet, made hunting a little more interesting this year, at least the deer are in rut.
