: Saber Studs
bighig340 11-07-2002, 02:52 AM Just had my sled studded and the dealer put in sabers instead of Woody's. Told me that he was warrentied by them. I have a 02 MXZ 600 w/144 studs in a V-pattern with angle backs. Is this a good setup or should I get the Woody's? He also told me if I bent or broke a stud (for as long as I own the sled) he'll write it up and replace them at no cost.
BellevilleMXZ 11-07-2002, 06:37 AM Junk in my opinion. Had sabers in the sled I bought last year, and I had to replace about 35 of them over the winter for the tip coming off. Went with Woody golddiggers this year.
Mikadoo 11-07-2002, 04:27 PM Saber's arn't worth the price of scrap metal!!!!! :cussing:
98xc700 11-07-2002, 05:28 PM I know there cabides are junk. I wouldn't want to find out about there studs the same way. !!!
Mighty RX-1 11-07-2002, 09:02 PM SABERS SUCK and their customer service is even worse!
My dealer was all high on the new ones last season. So of coarse I put them on. 120 down the middle on my 02 700. After 1200 miles about 30 need replacing. The tips were broke off. Took the sled in and dealer said that was normal wear,no warranty. I will never buy Sabers again.
I think it was MightyMach (now Mighty RX-1) that told me last year that the Sabers sucked,he was right,I should have listened. :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: JUNK!!!!!
bighig340 11-08-2002, 02:46 AM OK I take it they blow! Which is better, Woodys or Roetins??
Both are good, can't go wrong either way. I would lean towards the Roetins.
800REV 11-08-2002, 01:20 PM If you go with woody's use the Mega Bites instead of Gold Diggers. The Megas are almost 2 grams lighter than Golds per stud. Thats in the 1.325 lenght.
redzx 11-08-2002, 02:34 PM I put 192 sabers in my 800 and within 800 miles they were all missing tips and looked like they had 5000 hard miles. their service dept. told me to take a flying!@@@!!@.So much for warranty and customer service.Replaced them with woodys and 3500 miles later only replaced 15 :cussing:
ZR Sled Head 11-08-2002, 05:46 PM I would go with Woodys studs and be sure to use their backers for best performance/longevity. Depending on your sled stick with studding down the center.
Rick.
Mighty RX-1 11-08-2002, 08:09 PM mxz7, yep it was me. Sorry I wasn't more convincing then ???
Mikadoo 11-08-2002, 08:10 PM It's funny how everyone has the same problem with Sabers tips!
When you ask "what's up" they reply, sir, you are the first to complain about this!!!!! JOKERS! GET OUT OF TOWN YOU CLOWNS!

Thats OK Mighty. I'll just have to kick your butt when I see you. :p :D ;)
Bone Daddy 11-09-2002, 01:03 AM That warranty is so dumb you have to show them a broken stud ,well its gone now and how do you get the bet ones off. They use it to sell it to you.We are getting smarter :sarcasm:
LicknOutaTheCatsDish 11-09-2002, 08:07 AM Think i'll send a link from this thread to Saber's sales dept...then maybe they'll understand why their sales are sagging...
SNOWFREAK 11-09-2002, 08:23 AM This will be my 3rd year on the SAME set of woody's they are looking a little worn but they are definatley good for one more year, A buddy of mine in MN swears up and down by Penetraters (made by II Stroke Pilot, Inc.) they are out of Prior Lake, MN good prices too from what I hear //// I will try these next year.
doodoo 11-09-2002, 08:07 PM here i will add my thoughts on saber studs i went fishing last week and i used just one it worked great i caught a fish those things are the best sinkers i have ever used and if anyone see this that works for the saber co. your stuff really sucks
i hope i did not brake any rules by using such bad language i wont do it again but i had the absolute worst expierence with that co. :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:
TT670 11-09-2002, 08:21 PM I sold saber studs( thousands of them) for a few years and had good luck, but in 2000/2001 they went to the dogs!! Ill never use their studs again. They dont want to hear about failures and basically tell the customers( and dealers) to get lost. I like the runners, Ive used saber 8" magnums and never had to replace runners on any sled Ive owned after installing them. Disclaimer: I do buy a new sled every 2 seasons. For studs, Im going with fastrac top gun II's this yr.
flynn 11-13-2002, 08:52 PM You guys are nuts...all I hear about from you is how bad saber is. But funny thing you never hear anything bad about woody's or roetin or anything? Sounds to me like a bunch of over paid woody employees playing "innocent saber customers" and complaining---just trying to peddle their own garbage. Also I never hear about saber studs being bent or broken...just tips coming gettign knocked off...well hell I had that happen to studs I had too but to tell the truth I couldn't tell any difference in traction...so what are you guys talking about? Oh saber is junk? Why because customer service won't take your word that you broke a stud and won't just sent you a new set up free of charge? People they're in business too you know...and most of the time even if they do bend over backwards for you you still won't be happy so just take your lies somewhere else. I never had trouble dealing with saber if you kept a level head and didn't complain about something they can't control.
polaris_boy_38 11-13-2002, 09:03 PM HEY everyone i just want to say i been using saber studs for the past 4 year and i find them to be the best studs i have ever run. their customer service is great. i will never change. thank saber your stuff is the best :D :D
XC Racer 11-13-2002, 10:04 PM If you put them in right they would not brake!!! yes the old ones would chip but the new ones don't!!ZXP
Mighty RX-1 11-13-2002, 10:46 PM XC,
Last year on american snow their were over 150 replies to a post asking "who has had problems with saber studs" Yea, I said over 150! They made a mistake with some bad material and you had to pull teeth the get them to do anything about it. Sure, some of you may have had good luck, I even had good luck in 97 on my MachZ with 240 wart hogs. But they goofed a couple years ago and it has cost them dearly. Just look at this post for an example, 2 or 3 reply's in support od saber while every other one hates them!
Yea, right, we all work for Woody's!!!!! Get real. I'm not recommending any manufacturer, I'm simply warning unsuspecting people about a poor business decision made by a company that wouldn't stand behind their product.
flynn 11-13-2002, 11:04 PM You may not all work for woody's but some of you definitely do...I'm just tired of people like you going out of their way to try to screw people over. Say what you want about their stuff in the past...but saber has the best traction products on the market and the people at woody's can't design anything better so they either copy what saber is doing...like most people have...or go on the internet and try to scare people into buying some imitation traction products...sure what it sounds like to me.
