Just wanted to know if anyone uses a snowmobile to do any heavy hauling.Ive got a stand of cedar that I have been harvesting,I use the snowmobile to drag the trees back to the house,about a 1/4 mile.I can pull a couple of 20 footers 4-6 diameter.Just wondering if these machines can hold up to the strain.I know people beat the snot out of snowmobiles,just wondering how well they hold up to heavy pulling.The snowmbile can get me up to steep slopes that otherwise are a real pain to get at in the summer.The snow makes it so easy to drag things down hill.It is a 30 year old sled,but way low mileage for the year

you'd be surprised how much beating an old sled can take, i wouldnt be too worried about the sled you got if i were you.

I would wait til the wife goes out and use her sled.

hard on drive belts. may cost you a few belts but if it works.

have a friend how has a 79 jag oil injection will pull a fare bit, he has over 5000 miles and still goes and its all original.it should do the job. i would check your strap and tighten it up and check engine temp when pulling

I know its pretty old and light duty by comparison to the new Alpina utility sleds but it has been a reliable work horse these past few weeks.Ive dragged a couple of truck loads of dry wood back to the house to burn in the buckstove.It will pull a 6-8" 20foot long tree no problem.Its the uphill turns that are kinda tricky.I will post some pics of it in action once I replace my dead digital camera.I just wish I could figure out why the belt drags at idle.I replaced it with the stock part # belt from arctic cat.Its tough to start with the belt dragging,plus I have to raise the idle and lock the P brake whwnever I stop to hitch up a tree.Anyhow,great forum,wish I could afford an Alpina utility sled.
