I just got a 1990 safari 377 LE single carb. At first it only ran if i kept priming it, so i put on a new intake boot,and cleaned the carb thoroughly. After that it was running great but a bit rich
so i adjusted the needle in the sliding carb piston. Then it idled great but bogged on the top end.
I set the needle back where it was and tried adjusting the small screw jet on the side of the carb. Now it just seems to flood out every time i try to start it. If i can get it running it runs pretty well as long as i don't idle it too much or go slow. It has new plugs and makes good spark. Does anyone have some idea why it keeps flooding? I just want to ride it while we've got snow. Thanks.

I been working on and riding 2 Safaris this winter. Both have had carbs cleaned twice.
First time with a spray can of carb cleaner the second time soaked in carb and parts cleaner.
Costs more but can be reused. On one carb the needle and seat stuck open so there was
gas running out the carb vents after startup. It would run at higher rpm, flood at low
speed and run out the vent lines. Had to redo that one. On the other machine I put
the carb together, all but the float bowl than with a piece of fuel line on the carb I blew into
it and with the carb upright I could lift the float up and down to check if it was stopping flow.
One time to get it right. On both machines the spray carb cleaner would go through all
passages but after soaking in the carb and parts cleaner the jets were much cleaner.
clean carb and new plug and both are running great.
