I put about 70 miles on today which is not that many for me, it would of been alot more but the trails were not in that great of condition...... on my way home i notice that i'm reving to about 7 grand and only doing about 40mph... i'm like what the hell is going on here, making sure my park brake wasnt on.. and i pulled the hand brake lever a few times maybe thinkin the pads were stuck on the rotor.... neither of those were the issue..... when i finally got home i was relieved b/c i didn't want to end up having to change a belt on the trail at 9 pm alone.... when i got home i noticed the belt was sitting real low in the secondary so i take off the belt and it was kind of a pain due to clearance issues.... once i free it from the secondary it immediately closes as if the belt kept it from closing all the way....i take off the belt and there is still good teeth life on teh belt, noting there was a little strand of belt material thread just hanging there.... i put it back on..... and it is sitting probably 1/4 inch deep in the secondary..... bought it from the dealer with that belt on it, not noting any wear on it from there so maybe it was worn from the dealer... or maybe its an alignment problem or something i'm puzzled...

Does my riding style depict belt life? i take it easy on the ruff terrain kinda on and off the throttle like that..... i don't know if this is the first and only belt that has been on this sled... its a 2001 srx700, i have a spare belt but i don't want to put it on unless i know what is happening.... if its a common deal... my buddy has put on more miles then me with his same exact sled and his belt is fine and his is a 1999.... the belt might be newer on his tho...

thanks for any help!!

Me and my bubby resently had the same problem. If you take the secondary off there is a snap ring on the back of the clutch. Sometimes this snap ring breaks so the clutch slides apart stopping the clutch from grabing the belt.

Could it be a backshifting problem?

i do not have the tools to do it my self and my dealer has a special free clutch cleaning... if i brought just the clutches in, but i'm going to have them take the clutchs off, take them apart to inspect the helix and springs and what not, and also give them a dip in the cleaner.... I'll let him know about the snap ring, i wonder if they check that regardless of if i tell them to check it or not.
