Hi guys rebuilding a 98 600 xc and decided to make it a 700 bought 220 jugs and reman crank
decided to port the exaust ports (this is going to be an extra sled n ot a trail rider) from what I read the 824 jugs exaust port were higher than the 220 jugs so looking for more top end I ported the exaust on the 220 jugs and while I am waiting for a head to be shipped to me I am trying to find out what I can on how this porting should work out for me.
Does any one have 824 or 220 jugs around that they could measuse the top of the exaust port to deck hieght .
I posted this in the engine mod forum but no luck.
Thanks.

Just a little FYI, the "220" cyl only came on the snow checked XC700's for '98. The 220 cyl all recieved a factory performance port job. I personally wouldn't spend money porting cylinders that already have been nicely ported. I had a '98, and man did that engine make brutal midrange power!! Polaris actually mellowed out the '99 engine compared to the fire breathing '98. If my memory serves me correctly, the '98's also cam with a real agressive ignition mapping as far as spark advance. The '99 and up CDI's had a more mellow advance curve. I don't think you can get an original '98 CDI from Polaris anymore. It superceedes to the '99 CDI.
