Hey Guys,

Looking for some help here. Took the Zert out the other day (it was running great) and went to make a slow turn and the thing just died out. Took a couple of minutes of pulling on the rope before she fired up again and it was acting like it wanted to die out then kick back in made it to the house and hit the kill switch and it just kept on running (lumbering to shut off). Now it is still won't shut off, I have to pull the wire on the coil or flood it out to kill the thing.

Is this the CDI Box going bad?
Is it a short in the wiring somewhere?

Thanks for any comments.

Steve

that is a dirty ground on the recoil housing .take the bolt out going through the three wires . clean them all up including the block . put a dab of dielectric grease on there and reinstall the bolt. report back please so when this is pulled up by the search engine it will help the next guy . the part about the cut out has me ( could be coolant on the 4 wire plug under the res .could be you just bumped the kill ) but lets take things one at a time .Mark

edit do not pull the wire from the coil while it is running K

I knew I could count on you.
I was looking at that ground the other day because it is really dirty. I will clean that up tomorrow and let you know. 10-4 on the coil wire while running!!
I think I may buy another tether cord too. Come to think of it the one I have does give me some problems (pops off fairly easy) with the handle bar bag I have.

Hey thanks again.

FYI I did pull that secondary apart and pulled the bigger shim out. Worked out real good. I have not put the 49.5 g weights in it to date. Still engaging at 4500. Hopefully this week.
Sooner or later I will have asked you every question there is about tweeking the ZRT.
