hi guys whats up. * i was running red line oil as soon as the oil started to run thru the system the sled started running extrimly rich. at iddle it would almost stall the sled. so i checked everything thing. electrical, carbes aibox, fuel. then i remembered that the problem started when i was running on asphalt. right at the end of the track it sounded like it cut out .then latter in the season while running the trails it just would not run right so i thouht the hell with it i willdrain the oil out and run some new stuff. while iddling there would be a puddle of oil under the sled. also my exsaust tip(b and b) was leaking oil right out the top (i thought mabe the can was finished) but when i when back out with the new oil it took approx. 10 miles then it started to clean out ,the exsaust got quieter and started to run strong again hmmm. * *have u ever had this ?

I have heard of an increase in consumption with some oils, but nothing this severe. Was it using alot of oil too?? Too thin maybe?

Sounds odd. The pump is only gear type delivery so you wouldn't think oil viscosity would affect it that much as yours did. Syptoms you describe, espicially at idle, makes it appear the pump was in full delivery. I know you checked your cable but propably wouldn't hurt to check that pump cable again for kinks or fraying. Also have a look at the nut which holds your oil pump arm on.

It happened to me when I started using Klotz. *Not to that extreme though. *I kept fouling plugs until I offset the alignment lines on the pump slightly. *Now I'm wait to see how clean my rave's are at the end of this short season.

A good friend of mine has a 99 MachZ 800. His oiling system broke, luckily for him the break was it got stuck wide open, always pushing maximum flow of oil. It was a real pain in the but to get to, damn near disassembled the whole engine compartment to change out the bad part so he had the Ski-Doo dealer do it for him. They said that was common.
Hey machz69 glad to see your still alive ! its been a while. how do you like the new forum ?

At the beginning of the season during my initial inspection I found a lot of carbon built up at the exhaust. I found the oil pump lever binding somewhat open. After correcting this condition my temps on the EGTS were up quite a bit. The excess oil was causing a richer condtion all along. Now I am in the process of rejetting the carbs when the weather gets colder. Live and learn http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
