We captured my best crash ever on both wife-cam and helmet-cam, so check that out, it's the first clip on the youtube. It was dumb in that I knew it was coming and hitting the throttle would have probably saved it, but I messed up and now it's a classic moment. I was afraid the throttle would just make me crash harder, but most likely I would have just skipped over that hole. As the helmet cam proves, I knew I was toast well before the crash begun. I actually jumped off and pushed off the bars as I was crashing, that's why I landed so safely without a scratch.

We still have 12 feet but after the rain it has now refrozen and the surface is no longer very soft. Your track still digs right through the crust and you can still get stuck (as you will see) but for the most part the "powder" was really bumpy and hard to keep control. I had too much traction for the RMK and so I did most of my climbs on the Vmax just to make it a challenge. The worst part is the skis often do not punch through the snow when your track does, so a sidehill climb can really easily turn into a roll in these conditions. At least the sun was finally out.

I broke both windshields as well, you can hear the RMK windshield pop during my crash as it rolls, and toward the end of the youtube when I roll the Vmax down the hill to get it unstuck you can hear the windshield pop on the first roll. Good times.

Heh, yeah HER sled is already broken...two busted engine studs between the crankcase and cylinder on the 500 SKS. That also broke while I was riding it :( It really hurts because I had the clutching so dialed you wouldn't believe it was an indy 500 engine, it was lifting the skis and hitting hard. The 38/34 SLP mountain helix with SLP black spring is the best thing that ever happened that that sled BTW, with a totally stock primary, possibly the best aftermarket upgrade for the price I've personally experienced. And it got by far the best fuel and oil mileage and made the least smoke out of all our sleds, and it's also by far the lightest of our sleds. I'm just praying that when I replace the studs nothing else is damaged. The Vmax is our backup sled, it used to be my everyday ride until about this time last year. It's really supposed to be just sitting in the back of the truck adding traction to the rear wheels, but it refuses to break down so we end up riding it. Believe me, I've put that thing through hell and I've done nowhere near the damage that previous owners have done to it, but the Vmax never stops doing its job. The EXT Special is supposed to be my wife's backup but there has been a hang-up in the mod process...I'm ready to finish it but I need some free time and it would help if it wasn't so cold outside, because I don't have a truly sheltered work area, just an awning.

Anyway we do have another Vmax windshield, which is still appropriately low but not ultra-low like the busted one. It's scratched up but it might actually provide some wind buffering on the trail, and I'll be able to see the gauges when standing, so that's nice. Hopefully I get the SKS engine fixed Tuesday and the Vmax gets booted off the trailer and back to the pickup bed where it belongs.
