Will it hurt if you go 500 miles before?
My 99 I didnt have it done at all.

I don't think I've ever taken a sled back to the dealer
for the checkup. Of course, I usually have the sled
apart before it even sees first snow. 500 miles should
be no problem.

Check for any fluid leaks. Call your dealer to see if their
are any recalls needed. Give it a good inspection to
see if anything is melting due to pipe temps. Watch for
wires rubbing to become exposed. Grease. Check the
suspension for cracks. Check track tension. Check
belt deflection. Check chain tension.

I'm sure I'm forgetting things, but this is what I would
do.

My dealer actually suggests to bring the sled back for inspection at 500 miles.Do the checks that Gunner mentioned.

Just retighten the head bolds at 500km. *Thats the only important thing they do.

You may want to drain the chaincase & replace the synthetic chain oil ,you would be amazed at how quickly it becomes contaiminated with fileings especially when new.

Or you might to just spend the time and effort to take it in
so you have it documented that the sled was in the dealer
for a normal check up just in case.....dare I say it.....
something bad happens. 99 is out of warrenty probably but If
I still had a valid warrenty I'd just take it in.
