hey there. I put a goodwin clutch kit w/ adjustable pins on my 98FZ670.... red primary spring...18.2g pins... 280 ramps....blue secondary spring....pos. B-5.

Right at the moment I'm getting 7100-7200rpm out of a wot holeshot in hardpack conditions. With stock clutching it was right at 8k (and pulled way harder).... I was thinking maybe the secondary should be messed with but I think the primary may need the adjusting since the secondary seems to shift fine... right around 25mph she starts shifting in while I'm just crusin'. Much like the stocker did.

So if any of you 670 guys are out there and have the same kit, please don't be afraid to drop a clue or 2. I'm not very clutch savvy but I know the guidelines and basics.

Less pin weight then? or sronger spring? <---Am I close?

What would happen if I changed the pos. of the ramp cam bolts. (clicker)? It's on #3 right now. I was reading something about these longer pins hitting the housing, is this a problem that I should be dealing with? Any info on what each of these things will change would be very much appreciated

Thanx much!!! :)

How doo you have the secondary set up?
Sounds like you have it set up to loose, should be set at 20 pounds preload
B6 should be close

Doesn't that only affect how it revs out on the higher speeds. Because after about 60 it revs up to about 7500-7700rpm while stretching it's legs up to 95mph.

I was thinking about it all last night and I came up with either a stiffer primary spring or taking about 1 gram out of the pins...???????????

blue secondary spring....pos. B-5.[/b]

first post...

Should i just call goodwin? My 670 is a bit tired....4500miles on'er now. maybe I need a bit more power for the settings I'm at.

So the tighter I wind the secondary spring the higher the rpm's will be @ WOT? So If I go up to say a C-5 position then I'll be up around the 7800-8k area?

Do I really need to go that high on the spring to get another 500-600rpm?

dont wind the secondary up more...you`l complicate your tuning problems. the 280 ramps will work with the 670, not my first choice but a good second. i dont know how the "red goodwin " spring specs out but the spring you need to work with 280`s and 18.5 grams with a 50 helix is gonna be around a 230/420. call goodwin, find out watcha got, you have my opinion, get theirs on what to doo. you have played with the clickers right? 280 ramps for whatever reason always wind up liking #4 and #5 position. good luck.

I would make a call to Greg he has always been willing to help. I would click up to 4 with his 280 ramps and A5 or B5 depending on body weight (B for Big). If the RPM's are still low reduce the pin weight.

The pins hitting the governer cup is a problem on the TRA-3 and newer. The newer pin kits have less weight to them ( ie. shorter). Your 670 should be an earlier series TRA.

You guys are always a big help!!! Now I have a better idea of where I should be. This kit was set-up for a 99 670 HO, where as I have a 98 FZ670. Not exactly the same power..... though I may tend to think it's the same. lol.... Well thanx for the great info!!!!

Hi guys, sorry to bring up this old thread but it is exactly my problem rightn now. I hope 670freak or ballsout will chime in. It sounds like he just put a stiffer spring in to bring the rpm up?
