Hey all-
I just got back from a trip in the ADK's the sled ran awesome over the lakes etc... We got a dump of snow in Western New York 2 days ago so I was out ridin' (trail-breaking in many areas) and snow was coming over the top etc... It was real cold and powdery anyways in one section the throttle seemed to stick (froze?) w/ revving around 8000 rpm.

After realizing I needed to do something cause I needed to make a turn I hit the kill switch and stopped. I then kept working the throttle w/ the engine off and it seemed to loosen up. I re-started the sled and it idled low (normally) but didn't sound like all cylinders were firng right. It was boggy and slower.

I got home, replaced all plugs (the middle one seemed a bit fouled) and it still runs boggy. Here's my questions:

1) Could the throttle on the middle carb still be frozen causing a gas problem?

2)What is the best way to un-freeze a sticking carb (if that's what it is)? I don't have a heated garage.

3) Can the R.A.V.E. pieces freeze and affect performance?

I appreciate any info or tips. Thanks!

If your carbs are indeed frosty.

1) Try pouring isopropyl alcohol in your gas tank as per instructions on the bottle. (I do every fill up cheap insurance)

if that alone does not work

2) Get the sled near an electrical outlet and put a trouble light (the type with the incandescent bulb, not the new LED or flourecent types) position it in a safe manner in the engine bay turn on and check it after a half hour or so.

Regardless get Iso in you gas.

Hey I put a heat lamp in the engine compartment, covered it w/ blankets for 3 hrs. and some isopropyl in the tank. It fired up but I don't think all carbs unfroze - it still didn't run on all 3. Eventually it wouldn't run anymore (or fire) but I'm still getting spark on all cylinders. I did a compression test and all three cylinders are at 120 - 121 psi. Any ideas on how to get it goin' by this weekend? It is supposed to be cold here in Western New York and my garage has no heat.

Is your airbox frozen up as well? If your engine can't breathe, she won't run very well or not at all.

I'll check that. I figured the foam (which doesn't look clogged) kept the stuff out but I didn't take it off/apart to see. I'll check that and hit them carbs w/ a heat lamp again (it's supposed to warm up to high 20's today here) hopefully that works! Thanks for the info!
