Bill Cudney set the new world record at a ISR sanctioned race event. He set the new record for Pro Stock 1000 with a 5.271 second pass in 660' ice.

Remember, Speed runs and radar runs are for speed only, Drag racing is for time with a speed against a competitor. Radar runs use a radar gun to get the speeds of the sleds. Speed runs use photo eye traps to get your speed. Speed runs usually are the most accurate speeds. This year a select group of racers in Minnesota are building "open" speed sleds. Expect to see low to mid 160's mph in 1000'. !!!

I've taken my radar gun to many speed runs with the eye traps. The radar speeds are always different.

Alien

Speed traps are more consistant. Radar guns have a converstion time as much as 1/2 second between readings.

I'm going to guess Allen is Al. Glad you have come to the site as many of us will want to tap you for info. The 800 cce ran great after I put in the clutch kit you set me up with. Thank you. To the other members on SW, the people from CSE are VERY fast, friendly, and always willing to help make us faster. SW just got lucky on this one.

A Union Bay powered sled recently set the World Top Speed record at 167 +/- mph. That's a single engine class.

Alien

Techically it is not a world record. You must a sanctioned organization...
How about the fastest stock sled... Can anybody top 118 mph in 1000' not 2000'.

I HAVE A VERY GOOD FRIEND THAT RAN HIS XCR 800 THIS YEAR ON ASPHAULT AND WAS RUNNING UNDER 10 SECONDS AND 135 MPH IN 1/4 MILE, HE RUNS IN THE PRO STOCK 800 CLASS, HE IS THINKING ABOUT DOING SPEED RUNS THIS YEAR. :sly:

This taken from SnowWest, Dated March 16, 2002:

" . . . Chris Hanson of Lindstrom, Minn. set a NEW SPEED record of 167.2 mph for a snowmobile-powered by one engine. Because of deteriorating track conditions, Chris was only able to use abut half of the 2000' ice track."

They go on to say it was powered by a Union Bay 1200 cc Billet engine and that there was still some speed left had the track held up.

This is not an official record. There must be a governing body and tech to be recognized as a official world record. ISR is the biggest sanctioning body. The record would have to be done in a 1000' by their rules. DD racing is trying to get some type of sanctioning to have official records. Chris Hanson was lobbying ISR to push the length to 1320', it was rejected. Hopefully somebody steps up and sanctions "official" world records for all classes of sleds.
