I'm trying to take the suspension out so i can replace the 2 slide suspension springs(broke one)
I got one bolt out fine but the other side was hard to get loose and now it just spins and spins and I cannot pull it out with a vise grip.
Any ideas for getting this out?
Also if I get this loose aren't the springs pretty simple to replace? I hope I can use some loctite or something so I don't need to replace the shaft.
Thanks so much, if pics would help I will post them.

Well if it's like newer models...and I really don't know...once you get one side loose it can be hard to break the other side because it just spins the shaft. You can't see it but it's spinning inside. My best technique for this is actually take the one you took out and bolt it back in fairly tight...that will put enough pressure on the other side to let you break that bolt loose, and then *usually* the one you removed and put back will be much easier to break the second time. I've had really tough ones where you have to get just the right torque on one side so you can break loose the bolt on the other side and still get the initial one out again. At any rate, bolt the one you got out back in tight so the shaft can't spin, and then see if you can remove the other side.

I have always been able to get that method to work. Admittedly it can be pretty tough sometimes.

get a longer bolt spin a nut on it put a washer on it put it in place of the bolt you removed . Tighten the nut and washer against the tunnell remove the other side. Loosen the nut off and remove the long bolt.....presto

Thanks guys, I am an idiot as I didn't realize that had a shaft inside that spins.
Will go give it a try now.
Thanks!

Was on my way but after trying a few times I get the bolt out but then when I loosen the nut/longer bolt all it does is spin and I am in the same boat.
I do not have an impact wrench but would even a cheap $25 one work for this?
Thanks guys

Yes it should work, but I wouldnt invest in a cheap $25 impact wrench. Get yourself a decent one, that way you can use it for other things other than snowmobiles. WL.

The impact worked like a charm. Pulled out the suspension and am now soaking the bolt that holds in the springs in PB Blaster. To no avail was I able to budge it and I didn't want to strip it out so I will try tom. nite again.
I am pretty sure that I need to pull off the steel piece that will tighten the springs when I tighten the stuck bolt and put in the suspension.
Does it seem like I'm on the right track?
Thanks

nothing on getting this bolt unstuck and installing the springs?
It's hard to find info on replacing these and I even read some manuals at the library.

Nevermind now guys. I bought a big breaker bar with 6 pt impact socket and was able to budge it loose. Figured it out after I got it loose.
Now the suspension is ready to mess with whoever's back is riding that hog!
Thanks!
