North Dakota has a huge pocket of oil that contains more oil than the total middle east!!!! This covers several states and well into Canada.
Anybody that has followed this oil "crisis" and has done any research on the Rocky Mountain Oil Fields knows that they have been drilling and capping wells for many years now. Now that they have us suckered in to their high prices; WALLA!!!! Gee, we found oil right here at home that our own oil companies can provide to you.
Amazing isn't it???

I always understood the USA could be totally free of middle eastern oil if we wanted to except for the tree huggers. I know in Alaska they discovered larger amounts of oil than what the pipeline is pumping but, enviornmentalist are raising hell about getting it. I'm sure the Dakota oil find will result in the same issue such as a gecko lives there so we could not distrub it.
I hope they get to drilling. Amazing how much oil we have in our own backyard now that oil is $115.00 a FREAKING:cussing: barrell!!!!!

That oil is a lot harder (read more expensive) to get out than the fields that are currently being worked. Read up on what happened to the oil companies after the oil crisis of the 70's and you will see why they are not jumping in with both feet here.
On the other hand I have read they are going to be investing a couple billion in that area in the next couple of years.
If you really want to see how much oil there is in the world look up shale oil. We (the US) are sitting on the biggest reserves in the world. It is even more expensive to get to - think in terms of coal mining rather than drilling wells to get it out. The oil companies lost billions back in the 70's when they started to develop these resources...

PS - nobody really knows how much oil the Saudi's have except for the Saudis - and they aren't talking...

They also fraqued a lot of wells in the shale; capped them; let them set for the proceedure to work. Think they were supposed to sit 10 years and then the shale oil can be pumped. It's been over twenty years now and they are ready if I remember things right.

I lived in Grand Junction, CO a few years back and there was a big push on shale oil then. They attempted to get to it with little results, or it was too expensive to process. The housing market went wild while they were there then, boom! When the oil companies left town you could get a real deal on a house.

Will the price of oil go down because of this find?? Not a chance!
It will still rise, in fact they will most likely sell it to the highest bidder which will be overseas.
Now there saying we can look forward to a food shortage because India is in bad need of it and going to pay a high price for it.
I say whats made in America stays in America, thanks Clinton!

Well, perhaps in 15 years when the Iraq war is finally over with, without any successes, we will then start to focus on something that might actually benifit those of us in the good ol USA. But until then, we'll keep spending our money on high priced oil and food products.
